Essential Question(s) / What is an example of a macronutrient?
What is an example of a micronutrient?
Central Focus/Lesson Objective(s) / Psychomotor:
Students will move back and forth across the gym while correctly using various movements until they have completed the game.
Cognitive:
Students will be able to give one example/fact about 3 of the 6 macro/micro nutrients.
Affective:
Student will work as a team to complete the macro/micro nutrients activity.
Academic Language / Macronutrients: Water, Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins
Micronutrients: Vitamins, Minerals
Water: lubricates, transports, & regulates body temperature.
Water makes up 60% of the body.
Carbohydrates: Provides energy
Examples: Starches, sugars, fiber
Lipids: Provided energy & insulation
Examples: Cholesterol, saturated fat, unsaturated fat
Proteins: Needed for growth and building/repairing of cells
Examples: Animal products, grains, legumes
Vitamins: Helps the formation of hair, skin, teeth, and nails
Organic, there are 13 types
Minerals: Needed to uptake vitamins, formation of cells, & chemical reactions
Inorganic, sodium, potassium, calcium

Management Plan / Introduction:
Students will dress out and sit in assigned spots for role and instructions.
Body of the Lesson:
Setup per diagram.
Students will move to a side of the gym. Students will pick their groups of 6. Count down from 5. Teacher will place ungrouped students.
Conclusion:
Students will sit in a semi circle near teacher.
Introduction to Lesson/
Activating Thinking / After roll, ask essential questions.
What is an example of a macronutrient? (water, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins)
What is an example of a micronutrient? (vitamins, minerals)
Review: macronutrients, micronutrients, water, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. (Answer card)
Body of Lesson/
Teaching Strategies / Task 1:
Explain the game. Students will move from one side of the gym to the other using various movements. The first student will go and get one card. The next student will flip one card to find the matching card. If a match is not found, return to group. Next student goes.
Teacher can select from any of the movements. Here are a few suggestions.
Walking, skipping, galloping, hopping, sliding, jogging, running
Kangaroo hop, crab walk, hop, bear crawl, jump rope, lunges, etc
Do as many rounds as needed to fill time.
Wrap-Up:
Ask essential questions. Answer questions from students.

Evaluation / Visual Assessment after every round of students matching cards together.
