Georgia Milligan Scholarship for Excellence in English

Georgia Milligan was a beloved member of the Kwantlen English Department from 2003 until 2006. Georgia left us suddenly at an early age, and in her memory the English Department is collectively supporting an award for an English student. The goal is to build an endowment fund which will pay out a student award in perpetuity.

To do this, we must reach a total of $10,000 in donated funds. Since all employee donations are matched by the Foundation, this will bring the total principle of the endowment fund to $20,000. The matching program offers great value for your donated dollars.

Together we can raise enough funds to present the award to a deserving student on an annual basis. We recognize the impact that faculty has on the lives of students – this award would be the icing on the cake!

Payroll deductions are a convenient way for faculty to support this award. All it takes is a combined donation of minimum $20 per pay period to accumulate, and our department can offer an award to encourage students and provide them with financial assistance.
Here are the possible scenarios on how we might go about building up to an endowment fund.

After the endowment fund has reached the goal, the interest will sustain the annual award.
