FEMA REGISTRATION DEADLINE IN ONE WEEK FOR GEORGIA FLOODS

Recovery summary: By the numbers as of COB 11/13:

  • Almost $52 million has been approved to help disaster survivors with temporary housing, home repairs and other needs through GEMA and FEMA disaster grant programs.
  • More than $38 million in loans to homeowners, renters, non-profit organizations and businesses of all sizes has been approved by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
  • More than 26,000 households and businesses have registered with FEMA for Individual Assistance.
  • More than 100 cities, counties and other public organizations in 21 counties have applied to GEMA for Public Assistance.

TALKING POINTS

  • Nov. 23 is the final day to register for disaster assistance by calling 800-621-FEMA or visiting DisasterAssistance.gov (TTY 800-462-7585). Phone lines are open every day from

7 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET. Help is available in all languages.

  • Disaster survivors also have less than one week to return applications for low-interest loansfromtheU.S. Small Business Administration.
  • People can visit one of the six remaining Disaster Loan Outreach Centers to get one-on-one help with SBA loan applications.

  • The counties designated under the federal disaster declaration for assistance to individuals, families and businesses of all sizes are Bartow, Carroll, Catoosa, Chattooga, Cherokee, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, Gwinnett, Heard, Newton, Paulding, Rockdale, Stephens and Walker. SBA economic injury loans are available to small businesses only in additional counties.

SBA Business Recovery Centers

SBA Business Recovery Centers are open specifically to provide help to businesses. Centers are open Monday through Fridayat the following locations until further notice:

  • CobbCounty: Powder Springs Library, 4181 Atlanta Street, Powder Springs, 30127. Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • DouglasCounty: DouglasCounty Chamber of Commerce, 6658 Church Street, Douglasville, 30134. Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers

The SBA has also opened Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOCs) for disaster survivors to get one-on-one assistance with loan applications and to ensure that every qualified individual and business receives the help needed to recover from the severe storms and flooding. The DLOCs are open Monday through Friday until further notice. The hours and locations of the centers are as follows:

Homeowners, renters and business owners in 17 designated counties who suffered uninsured or underinsured loss or damage as a result of the flooding can apply for federal disaster aid.
