Georgia Association of Middle School Principals

Mike Campbell Exemplary Administrator Award

BACKGROUND & PURPOSE

This award is named for Mike Campbell. In a career that spans nearly forty years, Mike has taught on the middle and high school levels, served his country in the United States Marine Corp, and served as middle school assistant principal and principal. He has also worked on the system level as Executive Director of Middle Schools and Executive Director of Governmental Relations, where he is a liaison between the legislature and the board of education.

Mike received his B.S. Degree in Biology from East Tennessee State University, his Masters from West Georgia College, and his Educational Specialist degree from the University of Georgia.

Mike continues to be actively involved in professional organizations. He has served two terms as President of GAMSP. He has also served as GAEL President and President of the Cobb County Association of Administrators. In addition to these professional memberships, Mike is also a member of NASSP. Because of his service to Georgia’s students and fellow educators, Mike has received the following awards: GAMSP John Lounsbury Award, GAEL Outstanding Educator Award, and the Mike Campbell Exemplary Leadership Award. In addition, while he was serving as Principal, Tapp Middle School received recognition as a Georgia School of Excellence and a National School of Excellence.

The purpose of the Mike Campbell Exemplary Administrator Award is to recognize outstanding educators, who, through their vision and leadership, have contributed to higher educational standards.
