  • As a Job Corps contractor, worked with thousands of Job Corps graduates over a period of four and a half years.
  • Managed a caseload of 150 graduates each month, At Risk Youth – ages 16 to 24.
  • Promoted job development through direct contact with employers including Tommy Novis Center, Wal-Mart, Six Flags of Georgia, Procore Solutions, Alorica, Ashton Staffing, etc.
  • Referred hundreds of graduates with barriers such as criminal records; transportation, housing, and childcare issues to appropriate services including:One-Stops, State Employment Agencies, Career Transition Contractors, and community outreach.
  • Ensured placement of graduates and former enrollees in quality jobs, the military, or further education and training opportunities. Met goals for placement 80% of the time in a difficult job market.
  • Provide students with assessment and assistance with placement readiness including skill testing, etc.
  • Prepare resumes; conduct Mock Interviews; teach graduates to fill out application forms, one on one.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

  • Provided case management for hundreds of people in the WorkFirst program (welfare reform program designed to help low-income individuals prepare to re-enter the work force).
  • Conducted an evaluation to determine a plan of action; provided supportive services and referred individuals to other community organizations.
  • Instructed workshops and orientations including resume building, job search skills, networking, interviewing, job application guidelines, proper dress, etc.
  • Maintained accurate participant records such as case notes indicating the customer’s progress, contacts, and program attendance.
  • Created group plan and implemented successful strategies to promote job search efforts, positive attitude and attendance; created documents and forms via MS Word, Excel and Access.
