George Liston and Patsey Chandler
George Listonwas born 1773 in Virginia. He married Patsey Chandler on March 25, 1801 in Washington County, Kentucky. George died in October 1806 and Patsey and a child died in November. His Will was recorded December 1, 1806, and the Sale bill of the Estate is dated December 3, 1806. With George and Patsey’s death, that sad event left a daughter, Polly, and a son, Joseph, 3, orphans. Patsey was born in Orange County, Virginia, the daughter of Robert Chandler and Susannah Edmondson of Washington County, Kentucky. See Exhibit # 1. Patsey is the granddaughter of Joseph Chandler and Sarah of Orange County, Virginia, see Exhibit
# 2, and the great granddaughter of Timothy Chandler and Justine(Jestin) Woolfolk of CarolineCounty, Virginia. See Exhibit # 3. P

Joseph Liston and Martha Bland
Joseph Liston was born Sept. 5, 1803 and died Jan 31, 1877. After the death of his parents in 1806, a maternal uncle, Edward Chandler, raised Joseph and his sister, Polly, until 1819 when his mother’s cousin, William Edmondson took over guardianship of Joseph. In 1819, Joseph was apprenticed for 7 years to learn the saddle making trade. Joseph married Martha Bland May 23, 1826. In 1835, Joseph, with his wife and 2 children, stayed with his sister Polly and her husband in Alton, Illinois before they moved to Palmyra, Illinois in the spring. Joseph had purchased land in MacoupinCounty in 1835, along with Martha’s sister and brother in law, William and Susan Bland Wright.
Martha Bland was born Feb. 17, 1807. She died Jan. 25, 1876. Joseph and Martha are buried in OldUnionCemetery, Route 111, Palmyra, Illinois with 5 of their children who preceded them in death: George B., Sarah Ann, John T., Susan Mary, and William Thomas. Martha is the daughter of John Bland and Nancy Edmondson of Washington County, Kentucky, both formerly of Virginia. See Exhibit # 5. John Bland died in 1816. Nancy died before 1840.

4 - John T. Liston was born 1835, and died 1848, Palmyra, Illinois
5 - Joseph B. Liston was born Aug. 19, 1938, Palmyra, Illinois, and died Jan. 21, 1920, Carlinville, Illinois. He built The Big House in Carlinville and raised his nephew, Joseph Bostick Liston, after his brother, Albert M., died of typhoid fever. He married Lucretia Dick on Nov. 7, 1867. She was born 1841 and died 1933. They are both buried in the CarlinvilleCityCemetery.

Albert M. Liston and Augusta Evans
Albert Liston was born August 18, 1848 in Palmyra, Illinois. He married Augusta Evanson Sept. 15, 1874. He died Dec. 14, 1892 of typhoid fever and one month later their daughter, Elizabeth, age 7, died of the same. He is buried in Palmyra, Illinois. Augusta Evanswas born March 19, 1849 and died March 24, 1904. She is listed on the 1900 census in Bardstown, Kentucky. She is the daughter of Dr. Isaac G. Evans and Sarah Barkley of Bardstown, Nelson County, Kentucky. See Exhibit # 6. Augusta is the granddaughter of Edward Evans and Sarah Edmondson of Nelson County, Kentucky. See Exhibit # 7. She is also the granddaughter of John Bartley of Fayette Co., Kentucky.
Children of Albert M. Liston and Augusta Evans are:
1 - Zoe Belle Liston, born July 5, 1876, Bardstown, KY. She married 1st, William Mays on Feb. 9, 1893 and 2nd, Edward Daniel Fitchner in 1900, Louisville, Kentucky. Zoe died in 1953, Tallahassee, Florida. Her children are: Hallie Mays Pressley and Eugene Edward Fitchner.
2 - Augusta Liston, born 1877, Palmyra, Illinois, and died Aug. 4, 1960, Jacksonville, Florida
3 - Sallie Liston, born March 9, 1878, and died Aug. 28, 1878, Palmyra, Illinois
4 - Joseph Bostick Liston
5 - Elizabeth Liston, was born Dec.31, 1885, Palmyra, Illinois. She died in January 1893 of the same typhoid fever that took her father weeks before.
Joseph Bostick Liston and Mary Louise Kitchen
Joseph Bostick Liston was born July 7, 1880, Palmyra, Ill. and died March 3, 1950 in Raymond, Ill. After his father died in 1892, Joseph went to Carlinville to live with his uncle, Joseph B. Liston. In 1907, he graduated from MedicalSchool in Louisville, KY. In 1906, he married Mary Louise Kitchenof St. Louis, Mo. Shewas born Aug. 5, 1889 in St. Louis, Missouri and died Dec. 24, 1972 in Carlinville, Illinois. Together, they had four children. In 1918, they divorced, she returning to St. Louis with their fourth child and him keeping and raising the three other children in The Big House with his Uncle Joe and Aunt Lucretia.
Mary Louise is the daughter of Cortez Kitchen and Eleanor Harwood and is buried beside them in ValhalaCemetery, St. Louis, MO. She is the granddaughter of Solomon Kitchen and Martha Ann Giboney and William Belt Harwood and Martha Ann Lakenan. Her 2nd marriage was to Bruce Elliott of St. Louis. Siblings are: Robert Kitchen and Martha Ann Kitchen Niehuss.
Joseph married Hazel Marie Smalley on January 14, 1928. She was born August 5, 1900 in Carlinville (or Woodburn), Illinois. Joseph, Hazel and their 9 year old son, Albert Morris were living in Raymond, Illinois when Joseph’s car was hit by a train and he was killed. Hazel’s 2nd marriage was to Percy Porter in 1955 or 1956. They retired to Sun City, Arizona in 1958 and she died there November 16, 1986.

1 - Albert Morris Liston, born Sept. 5, 1940, Carlinville, IL, married Angela Carbonatta on January 31, 1998. They reside in Seattle, Washington.
Robert Harwood Liston and Helen Lapp
Robert Liston was born May 7, 1914, and died April 1, 1976, Carlinville, IL. He married Helen Lapp on Dec. 31, 1938 in Troy, MO. She was born, March 13, 1921, Edwardsville, IL, and died March 19, 1996, Springfield, Illinois. Helen Lapp was the daughter of Ernest Lapp and Augusta Epping. In 1921, the Lapp’s moved to Carlinville where they operated the Carlinville Greenhouse. Siblings of Helen Lapp are: Robert Lapp, Norma Lapp Bloomfield, Gene Lapp, and Ernest Lapp. Helen Lapp is the granddaughter of Charles J. Lapp and Amanda Cooper and Bernard Epping and Adelia Grote.

1 - Carol Anne Liston was born August 4, 1942 and died December 8, 1968 of an automobile accident in Connecticut.
2 – Jeanne L. Liston was born July 12, 1948. She married 1st James Frost, 2nd Kenneth Boyle and 3rd Thomas Bordenkirchener. She lives in Chatham, IL. Her children are: Julie Frost Hammers, Bradley A. Frost, Kenneth R. Boyle, Jr., Megan Boyle, and Leryn Boyle
3 – Judith G. Liston was born October 19, 1952. She married 1st Jose Perez, and 2nd Pepe Salame. She lives in Edinburg, TX. Her children are: Robert Perez, Travis D. Perez, and Daniel Perez.

5 - Robert H. Liston, Jr. died at birth May 20, 1961
6 - James G. Liston was born May 3, 1963. He married Kristiana Rhoads. They live in Tucson, Arizona.
Marsha Lynne Liston and David William Bradshaw –
Marsha Lynne Liston was born January 11, 1955 in Carlinville, Illinois. She married David William Bradshaw November 16, 1974 in Wilmette, IL. He was born January 31, 1953 in Chicago. David is the son of James H. Bradshaw and Sheila I. Andersen. They live in Wilmette, Illinois.
