Have fun reading alliteration and tongue twisters. Try saying several of them softly, over and over again, to see how well you manage the tricky patterns. Write down a few of your favorites.

ABC Books are not just for young children. Authors have written interesting ABC books about many topics, from plants and animals to Native Americans and transportation. Enjoy reading at least two ABC books. Write down six facts you learned from your reading.

Extra for Fun: Create an ABC book about something you are studying or something of special interest to you. When you’re finished, you can share your book with the class.

Study the pictures in the books for 30 minutes. Then choose two pages and list everything you see in those pictures.

Read a variety of poems for fun. Choose several that you like a lot and then pick your absolute favorite to share with the class. Think about topics that seem popular with the poets and try writing a poem on your own.
