GENERAL PARTS MANAGER - COVINGTON, LA

The General Parts Manager position will report to the President of the company and will supervise the parts sales people, inventory clerks and warehouse personnel (all branches). He or she will continually develop and improve the operational and financial performance of the parts business and will be responsible for the successful execution of all parts operations throughout the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Duties

  1. Management of all parts functions, interactions and interfaces throughout the business to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of the parts operations.
  2. Define and communicate your expectations for the development of operational excellence throughout the parts department.
  3. Develop and implement effective Parts Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction and departmental profitability.
  4. Produce annual Parts department goals, objectives and budgets, in alignment with the Company’s financial and operational objectives and effective inventory management.
  5. Submits parts warranty and return claims within the required time frame to receive maximum credit.
  6. Maintains all department equipment and tools in good working order.
  7. Ensure department staff adherence to all Company policies & procedures

Customer Satisfaction

  1. Manage and develop the sales process that recognizes and enforces procedures leading to customer loyalty and referrals.
  2. Follow-up and resolve all customer requests and complaints.
  3. Develop relationships with key parts customers to facilitate greater sales and performance feedback.
  4. Develop a system to track and improve customer satisfaction for the Parts department.

Sales

  1. Maintain and build on sales to ensure department profitability
  2. Set department standards for behavior and conduct for personnel to follow.
  3. Establish long and short term sales and profit objectives for both the department and sales personnel.
  4. Develop operational protocol to enforce and encourage effective sale practices and constantly coach and develop the sales skills of the parts team.
  5. Develop advertising and sales promotion plans to enhance the profitability of the department.

Cost Control

  1. Manage departmental expenses to maximize profitability and review expenses regularly to ensure resources are being used effectively and efficiently.
  2. Develop and maintain monthly forecast.
  3. Check, inspect and authorize all necessary orders, picking slips, requisitions and purchase orders.
  4. Develop and maintain efficient billing, costing and discount procedures.

Inventory Control

  1. Establish and maintain a minimum inventory that ensures customer’s needs are met while achieving the required internal parts turn rate.
  2. Ensure a perpetual (cycle count) physical inventory of all parts and related items is conducted to ensure accuracy of parts inventory.
  3. Follow up on all material returns and credit requests.
  4. Control purchase and ordering procedures to maintain department profitability.
  5. Ensure all incoming parts are checked for conformity and price and return all non-conforming or damaged parts with credit request or insurance claim.
  6. Maintain shipping and receiving timetables.
  7. Ensure smooth flow of daily parts paperwork.
  8. Maximize the utilization and efficiency of existing warehouse space.

Company & Vendor Relations

  1. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all departmental managers to continually improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  2. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all company vendors to facilitate cooperation and operation excellence.

Safety

  1. Initiate housekeeping, safety and security procedures that result in a safe and clean working environment.
  2. Ensure that all company safety procedures are effectively implemented, communicated and followed by all personnel.
