Role Overview:

The Executive Manager,Market Vision, reports to the General Manager, Strategy, Market Vision and Innovation.
The Executive Manager, Market Vision, will work closely with the General Manager, Strategy, Market Vision and Innovation to develop clear strategies and market vision to leverage CSIRO’s science to deliver significant national and global outputs. The position will collaboratewith CSIRO researchers and leaders to identify where CSIRO’s comparable advantages can be leveraged into growing an emerging markets that lead to innovative science, business opportunities, and wellbeing for Australia. Theposition will deliver strategies for commercial growth by using analysis from historical, current and foreseen future developments. The position willascertain opportunitiesandposition the organisation so it has sustainable growth and meaningful impacts in an increasingly competitive global market.
The Executive Manager, Market Vision will influence leaders on the most strategic markets for CSIRO to apply science capabilities, and collaboration networks to catalyse the most innovative science for benefit to Australia.
Duties and Key Result Areas:
  • The position will act as a thought leader for CSIRO, and facilitate market vision intelligence development throughout the rest of the organisation.
  • Support the General Manager to lead a market vision project development from data gathering phase to implementation.
  • Generate Strategies that will lead CSIRO to consolidate and focus capability to ensure CSIRO remains relevant and produces impactful science in a competitive global marketplace.
  • Using data gathering and analysis to determine organisational capability and needs, internal data sources for competitive advantage, external data points for emerging and valuable markets.
  • Scenario planning to forecast trends, opportunities and competitive advantage.
  • Delivery of strategies that result in global impacts for Australia.
  • Identification of valuable and emerging markets, and global opportunities for CSIRO.
  • Develop strong partnerships between appropriatestakeholders to deliver on strategy.
  • Demonstrate exceptional people management and interpersonal skills to ensure motivated, high performance teams.
  • Demonstrates commitment to fostering a culture that supportsdiversity in gender, culture and experience, which enhances our creativity and skill mix.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, working closely with the Business Unit Researchers and Research Leaders, Global and Communications, as well as BD&C managers.
  • Advise and support the General Manager, Strategy, Market Vision and Innovation, CSIRO Research Groups and Executive Team on leveraging, reviewing and developing our Strategy, Market Vision, Innovation and Collaboration to drive business results
  • Influence organisational leaders on how to reach organisational strategies with consideration to current and future market vision.
  • Adhere to the spirit and practice of CSIRO’s Values, Health, Safety and Environment plans and policies, Diversity initiatives and Zero Harm goals.
  • Other duties as directed.

Pre-Requisites:
Education/Qualifications:
  • A researchand business degree or equivalent business experience.
  • 7 + years’ experience in a commercial management or strategy consulting firm; and an MBA or equivalent post-graduate business degree.
Essential Criteria:
  1. Demonstrated experience in developing Market Vision, engaging key stakeholders, and delivering outstanding implementation that led to increased markets and business opportunities
  2. Proven ability to deliver results in an environment of ambiguity and lead multiple initiatives across a complex organisation.

  1. Proven ability toprovide high level strategic analysis on existing operations, recognise opportunities, and provide leadership in a complex organisation to ensure competitive advantage across a national and global market.
  2. Ability to effectively engage with Senior Leaders and establish and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholder groups. Demonstrates an ability tactfully embrace on these networks to leverage on opportunities that support business prospects.
  3. Develops initiatives through creative and strategic thinking, and influences others to improve and change through exceptional oral and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation and representational skills
  4. Leading organisations to reach targets regardless of shifting trends across political, social and industrial environments through strategically prepared operations plans.
