Public Service Announcement Video – (150 pts.)

Working in groups of 2-3, each group will research, write and produce an original public service announcement to be presented the last week of the term. Groups will select their topic the first day of class. Be prepared to work on your project outside of class. If we have time, I will give you time during class, but there is no guarantee.

Suggested Topics:

·  General Health and Wellness

·  Physical Fitness

·  Anabolic Steroids

·  Nutrition

·  Smoking

·  Alcohol Use/Abuse

·  Drug Use

·  HIV/AIDS

·  STIs (STDs)

·  CPR

·  First Aid

Requirements:

1.  1-2 minute video that includes MLA citation.

2.  5 Sources (do not forget your citations)

a.  At least 2 Print Sources (Books, Journals)

b.  Web sources must come from .org, .edu, or .gov (no Wikipedia)

3.  A preliminary script with parts and basic instructions will be due by October 27 th. This must be typed with the names of all group members at the top of the first page. Please note: I only need one preliminary script per group. This is not a final copy. Things can change before the final filming.

4.  Final typed script must be submitted to Ms. Wilkerson at time of presentation (Include the names of all members of your group.)

5.  Presentation:

a.  Introduction – Topic

b.  Why is it important?

6.  Video must be submitted on a CD /Flash Drive or accessible on YouTube. It is your responsibility to make sure that your PSA is viewable prior to your presentation time.

7.  Each group member will submit a 1 full page, typed (12 Font) reflection that includes:

a.  What did you already know?

b.  What did you learn?

c.  To whom and why is this subject important?

d.  How well did your group work?

The reflection is worth 25% of the final project grade.

Due Dates:

1.  Topics due September 2nd

2.  Script due December 21st

3.  Final Project and Reflection Due by January 16th thru 20th
