2-3 / Final piece idea 1
Complete your first double page final piece idea. Show thoughts and decisions in a mind map/ notes on the left page and complete a full page trial of a possible final piece on the other side. Make sure it shows how you have used your Artists and is done to the best of your abililty. /
  • Notes/ mind map of decision making and ideas that have led to your final piece idea. Also reflect in comments on how it has gone and what you will do next based on this.
  • A full page or out of sketch book ‘practice’ of a final piece done to the best of your ability.
/ Work on final piece idea for 2 hours a week outside of class.
4-5 / Final piece idea 2
Complete your second final piece idea. This needs to be either a different image or a different interpretation of your first idea depending on how successful your first one was. Show thoughts and decisions in a mind map and then complete a full page trial of a possible final piece on the other side. Make sure it shows how you have used your Artists /
  • Notes/ mind map of decision making and ideas that have led to your final piece idea. Also reflect in comments on how it has gone and what you will do next based on this.

6-7 / Experimental images based on final piece idea and Artist inspiration
Refine and improve ideas for your final piece by producing additional experimental images that are based on the success and difficulties of your initial final piece ideas. You can try different or alter the:
  • Imagery/ content
  • Media and combination of media/materials
  • Techniques of using your media
  • Colours
  • Tone, line, shape
  • Artist inspiration
Write reflective annotation on each experiment and decide what to do next based on its success. Any work done outside of book on digital, larger scale or 3 D format needs to be documented in design ideas, photographs and annotation in your book.
Consider your visual sources (photography). Do you have the right imagery to work from? Do you need more detailed or interesting imagery /
  • 4 pages of images done in different media, styles, processes and techniques, which take inspiration from your Artists’ and suit idea development for your chosen theme.
  • Extra image collection or photographs done and stuck in book to follow more sophisticated or complex needs based on how the project is developing.
/ Complete 2-3 Media experiments per week.
Take/source more reference images and stick them in if needed for final piece ideas.
Half term: Make sure both final piece ideas are finished.
At least 2 pages of Experiments towards final piece based on week 6-7 tasks
10 / Working drawings and prep for mock
Choose the final piece you wish to do and focus on making accurate working drawings of the details in it you need to practise. If you need extra pictures to inform your drawings stick them in with comments.
Complete sketches that refine and experiment with the composition of your final piece in order to find the most visually interesting layout. /
  • Working drawings that show refinement of the details in your final piece.
  • Compositional sketches using the rule of thirds/ focal points and leading lines.
/ Complete your working drawings and make sure you are prepared to make your planned final piece in the Mock Exam next week.
Exam Days 8th-9thth November: Produce final piece planned in developmental work
Until January: Based on marking and feedback for coursework
Work in a targeted way so that you produce work for the weaker assessment objective. The major project and the starter work done in Year 10 count together towards you grade so make sure you identify what has given you the higher marks and how. This will help you understand what type of work has the most impact.
