GARDEN CENTRE QUALITY AWARDS

Objectives

The main objective of the Awards is to assist garden centres improve retail sales by ensuring that their customers receive the highest standard of goods and services. For the cost of entry into the competition, each garden centre is assessed by a professional consultant on over sixty criteria. The consultant will furnish each centre with a detailed report, itemising both good aspects and areas for improvement at the centre, and offer advice on how to make improvements that will translate into higher standards and higher profits. The value of this report for developing garden centres cannot be overestimated and all are encouraged to join the programme. The programme also can be used as a motivational tool for staff, and we would encourage all participants to fully engage their staff with the programme.

Mentor Programme

The mentoring programme is offered to new participants (at a reduced rate), who feel they would rather be provided with the business advice without being involved in the overall competition. They will also receive the full assessment against the standard criteria as outlined above, giving the opportunity to discover what you are doing well, and where improvements can be made. This will also give an indication where you are in relation to possible star ratings.

For those deemed to be at two star level, there is an option to avail of a second year on the mentoring programme at the full application rate if you feel it would be beneficial.
