Post 1992 Commander

Where has the time gone?

It seems like only yesterday that I was elected for a 6th term after a 5-year absence. The year has flown by, but we have had a lot of activity.

Starting with the New Year’s Eve. Dance, the mid-winter conference in Jan, Our Oratorical contest in Feb,

We hosted the National Commander also in Feb.

We had about 150 bicycle riders that was a part of Project Hero, we fed lunch to in Feb.

We had our 23rd annual drawdown on April 7th and an enjoyable time was had by all who attended.

Coming up shortly, we are having a crawfish cookoff, so I hope to see you there.

Nominations for all our officers is still going on and if you think you can make a difference, please sign up, to run for office.

We have the special privilege of being a 100% American Legion Family, Hats off to our Legionnaires, Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the Legion, and The American Legion Riders, and our Radio club. Thank every one of you for your efforts in making us a 100% Family.

Our next project, for our Legion, is to build a smoking patio so people who want to smoke will have a lovely place to go and smoke. We had our building permit approve d and we hope to start construction May 1st.

Post 1992 1st Vice Commander

Hello again Comrades! Summer is well on its way! The post is doing well, and we are looking forward to some great upcoming events! Check the calendar and come support some great causes and have a wonderful time!

The Cal Ripkin baseball team that we have sponsored, the Marlins, did well! It was a great season and the kids had a great time! If anyone has ideas for more kids’ activities and would like to get some things going let myself or Herb Edmonds know, and we will get on it—let’s get our young legionnaires involved!

Don’t forget that elections are close aboard! The more involvement we have the better our Post gets. So, if you are interested in a Post position get your name on the nomination list before May 14th. See one of the Nomination Committee members: BillWhatley; WesleyBright or GaryCoon.

Prayer for Healing the Sick:

Dear Lord of Mercy and Father of Comfort,

You are the one we turn to for help in moments of weakness and times of need.

We ask you to be with your servants in their illness. Psalm 107:20 says that you send out your Word and heal. So then, please send your healing Word to your servants. In the name of Jesus, drive out all infirmity and sickness from their bodies.

Dear Lord, we ask you to turn these weaknesses into strength, suffering into compassion, sorrow into joy, and pain into comfort for others. May your servants trust in your goodness and hope in your faithfulness, even in the middle of suffering. Let your servants be filled with patience and joy in your presence as they wait for your healing touch.

Please restore your servants to full health, dear Father. Remove all fear and doubt from their hearts by the power of your Holy Spirit, and may you, Lord, be glorified through these lives.

As you heal and renew your servants, Lord, may we bless and praise you.

All of this, we pray in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen
