COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course introduces basic concepts and skills related to microcomputer systems. Students apply technical skills to address business applications of emerging technologies, create word processing documents, electronic spreadsheets, presentation design, telecommunications and numerical data as it relates to business applications.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:
The student is expected to:
1.Be in class daily & on time
2.Bring all materials needed to every class session
3.Participate in class. {No exceptions}
4.Turn in all work & homework when due
5.Apply what was learned in class at home DAILY for at least ½ hour
6.Practice speaking Spanish outside the class with friends and family
7.Follow DISD and Mountain View College rules daily.

ATTENDENCE POLICY:
Garza E.C.H.S Students are expected to be in class daily ON TIME.
A student will be marked TARDY within first 15 min. of missed class time(ex.9:00-9:15)
A student will be marked ABSENT after the first 15 min. of missed class time.(ex. 9:16 +)
1st Tardy = Student will receive verbal warning
2nd Tardy = Student will be written up and parent phone call
3rd Tardy = Student’s parent will be called and student disciplined accordingly
Homework:
Your daily expectation is to keep current with all reading and review all study questions pertaining to each class. As an effort to assist in Mountain View College’s GREEN EFFORT, majority of lessons will be completed , EMAILED and stored on students flash drives for their record(s).Late work for overnight homework will be accepted no later than the next class meeting provided that the assignment was not graded or used for classroom discussion on due date. Late work must be complete and is worth 50% of the original grade.
QUIZZES/TESTS:
Quizzes and tests are always announced at least one week before they are given. Quizzes and test are worth 25% of your overall grade. Quizzes will cover taught on various topics on a weekly basis. They are worth up to 100 points. Both are multiple choices with some open-ended essay questions. No quiz retakes are available.
DUE DATES:
Due dates are given on projects and special assignments. Assignments that are due are to be turned in or submitted by the beginning of the class meeting of the due date. If you are absent on a due date for a project or assignment you will be responsible for getting work turned in the next scheduled class meeting. This is because of the length of preparation given for the assignment. If due date falls on a scheduled non-school business day, it is YOUR responsibility to turn in assignment BEFORE you leave for your absence.
Assignments given during an absence will follow procedure listed in ECHS Student Handbook. ALWAYS check with me when you return from absence if a due date was given.
NON - NEGOTIONABLE:
Late Work- Late work will only be taken one day late with a 30 point penalty. After one day late, work will be penalized 10 points per day.
Make up work- If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to obtain make up work upon their return to school. Students will be given the number of days they were absent o make up the work. This includes homework, class work and projects.
Make up Test - A student who misses a test because of an excused absence will have three days after he/she returns to class to make up the exam. The student will have to make up the exam on his or her own time. See teacher for appointment.
Cheating - CHEATING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. The student will receive parental contact as well as a disciplinary referral to his or her principal and a zero on the assignment. PLAGIARISM is a form of cheating and will not be tolerated.
NO FOOD, DRINK OR HORSEPLAY IS PERMITTED IN COMPUTER LAB. FAILURE TO ABBIDE TO THESE RULES WILL RESLT IN DISCIPLINARY ACTION.
SEMESTER EXAM:
Each six weeks exam will have a weight of 25% and the final exam will have a weight of 25%
A grade of 50% will be automatically substituted for any six weeks grade or final exam grade below 50% when the computer calculates the semester grade.
