Gang Narrative Assignment Checklist and Rubric

During out unit on the Outsiders, you will be writing a fictional gang narrative which tells the tale of two gangs in conflict with one another—much like the socs and the greasers. This narrative will be the creative writing component of this unit. Throughout our unit we will be doing a variety of pre-writing activities which you will compile into one complete gang narrative. The gang narrative will include all pieces of plot—exposition, rising action, conflict and climax, falling action, and resolution. It will also include a variety of different literary devices studied during the unit. These devices will be listed below.

The final copy of your gang narrative is due Monday, June 8. You will be graded on the following aspects:

Part One: Inclusion of Materials and Proper Literary Devices (100 points)

Inclusion of Pre-Writing Activities (30 points):

____ Rising Action and Conflict Graphic Organizer (6 points)

**All of these pre-writing activities should have already been turned in and must have written feedback from Mr. Sarudi on them in order to be counted for credit.
