Gamma Phi Beta Panhellenic Spirit Award

2005 Petition

The following is the list of categories and point distribution for the Gamma Phi Beta Panhellenic Spirit Award. Please type your application on separate sheets of paper listing each of the criteria. Please note that the award is largely based on your chapter’s Panhellenic spirit.

The Spirit Award Petitions are due by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31st to the Panhellenic Office located in PMU 288. The award will be announced at the upcoming Spring Awards Banquet on April 13th.

Purpose: To foster relations and spirit between the sororities at Purdue University

Title Page: Please indicate your sorority name, chapter size, date, and woman (or women) submitting this petition

Panhellenic Activities (40 points)

Please list all the activities with other sororities, which foster Panhellenic relations (group activities with Purdue fraternities or activities with other sororities on other campuses are not appropriate.) Indicate whether your chapter initiated the activity or event. Please highlight unique programs.

  • Examples: sponsored an all-sorority serenade, social activities with other sororities, community service with other sororities, sent greetings for holidays, attendance at Presidents-Delegates Council

Community Service (15 points)

Please include a brief description of each activity including what was involved, the number of people and time involved, the money earned, and the organization that benefited. Chapter (not individual) community service projects may be included. Indicate whether your chapter initiated the activity.

  • Examples: Food or Clothing Drives, House Philanthropies.

Chapter and New Member Programs Promoting Cultural, Social, and Personal Growth Experiences (15 points)

Please list all programs and specify how they promote positive chapter growth. Indicate whether your chapter initiated the activity.

  • Examples: Program or personal safety or date rape, Program on time management, Chapter Attendance at Cultural Events

Scholarship Programming and Achievement (5 points)

Please list scholarship programs and awards your chapter has received.

  • Examples: Scholarship dinner featuring a guest lecturer, donations to scholarship fund, Academic programs, Panhellenic scholarship awards

Sorority Activities (5 points)

Total chapter activities apply.

  • Examples: Homecoming display, Phone-a-thon, sheet signs for Panhellenic events or sporting events

Sorority Awards (5 points)

Specify any awards honoring your chapter as a whole. Please briefly describe any national awards.

  • Examples: National fraternity recognition, First place in campus events

Campus Intramurals (5 points)

Please indicate the sport, number of people involved, and rank or place.

  • Example: Individual awards and Overall ranking
