Pokémon Go is a fun, new reality-based game in which gamers can explore the real world and use a mobile app to ‘catch’ hidden Pokémon creatures. These Pokémon creatures appear on a user’s map and can be collected, trained, evolved, powered up and used in battles.
In the new Pokémon Go Writing Class offered this fall, we will use the popular game as the primary tool to develop, improve and strengthen our communication skills.
Our adventurous workshop is open to all students in grades 3-6 who desire a fun, engaging opportunity to improve their writing while playing Pokémon Go. Students will use their pencils, paper, devices and Pokémon Go know-how to master their writing skills for lifelong success.
In our Pokémon Go Writing Class, example assignments include the following:
• Create a set of instructions to teach people how to play Pokémon Go;
• Write a game review and look at existing reviews in the App store for examples of excellent writing and strong details;
• Create a character description of a Pokémon;
• Write a fiction story based on an adventure based on a Pokémon’s experience;
• Write a diary entry from the point of view of your avatar in Pokémon Go;
• Write a persuasive letter to your teacher or principal Shelly Sims asking them to let you play the game in your lessons!
• Create a fact file about some of your favorite Pokémon character;
• Write a newspaper article or blog post that talks about the Pokémon Go ‘craze’ that is sweeping the globe.
All of our lessons are common core-aligned curriculum that supports and enhances PLP-related classes. Join us for fun-filled writing sessions, where we will play Pokémon Go and improve our writing and communication skills. Beginners and experienced players welcome.

The Spielgaben design is based on the educational theories of Froebel, the founder of Kindergarten.
