FYI, Pizza Ranch will not hold their back room for us any more, So we are back to Golden Corral for now. If you have any ideas of other places that we can get into, please let us know and we can check them out.

Wow, summer has finally gotten here and we've had enough 900+ days, but then we remember removing more than 102" of snow, so where is the 760 weather all year long???

July started out with GWRRA visitors English Charlie and Anita from North Carolina. They were winging it to Glacier and stopped in for our Gathering. Its nice to have visitors to our area, even if its hard to understand a British/Southern accent.

We had a great time at the MT District Convention at Big Sky. It was nice at 7500 feet, but it did not cool off very well at night. The accommodations were grand, Thanks Deby & Henry. The road trips were very scenic, wet, and even some hail found us. A couple of bikes received minor damage due to the hail, but every one came through the storm safe, but not dry.We had visitors from Minnesota, Idaho, Oregon and New Jersey. Harry Sanders trekked to Wing Ding from New Jersey where he caught up with Greg Hintz from Missoula and had the grand tour coming out west. Harry also won the long distance award and Stock 1800 in the bike show.

We also initiated another couple to Bunko (Sandy & Steve? ) from Idaho. It took them a couple of minutes to get the hang of the game. We did send them home with a pad of score sheets so they can baffle their chapter with Bunko.

Chuck received a call from Dale Lupton from Virginia, Chapter VA-V. Dale is out west doing stone repairs to Custer Battle Field. Dale wanted to drive to Cooke City, so Chuck and his granddaughter Hannah obliged. Dale was amazed with the views and roads. Dale went to several dinners with our group and also on rides to Woodbine and Pryor/Hardin.

Betty and I will be attending the Region Convention at Lewistown ID, so we will not be at the August Gathering. Gary & Pam Schlenker or Tony & Gail Hoer will run the gathering in our absence. Betty has family in the Lewiston area so we will be staying in that area for about three weeks, so see ya in September.

A comment from Harry :

Harry,

It was a pleasure to meet you and talk to you @ our Montana Distract Convention. We hope you have space on your walls in your man room for the plaques you won out west. We hope you can join up with a Chapter in New Jersey to continue your GWRRA fun!

Chuck and Betty,

Thanks. The scenery in your part of the country is unbelievable, but it would mean very little without the people. Thanks for hosting me, I had a great time and met great people. Definitely worth the trip.

I am participating with NJ-G chapter and will be Tail Gunning a guided ride at our upcoming District Rally in August, thanks to the training provided in Montana.

I hope to meet everyone again sometime down the road.

August 2014

August is upon us and we can now look back on July and all of the great memories of our District convention! It was great to see everyone get out and ride to the destination of your choice. It didn’t matter if you headed into Yellowstone National Park or over by Quake Lake area the idea was just to get out and go.

Mother Nature was hanging around just to prove she still runs the show in our part of the country and a few riders ran into hail and some even ran into two batches on the same day! Luckily most were marble size and smaller, the only trouble being the wind was really driving it into our riders and co-riders, we all know that hurts like h#ll. Just imagine how much rain came down in such a short time I could only compare it to a deluge.

This again occurred on our dinner ride to Bridger. This time our riders and co-riders were able to find shelter after just a few miles under the awning at the Quick Stop in Rockvale. Great thinking on our lead bike and we all continued on safely after a 15-20 minute delay.

I wish to express my thanks to Jay Burdett & Greg Hintz for the awesome job they did presenting the Road Captain course part A & B. This class is something that those that attended can take back to their local chapter and show to their fellow riders.
