Lower Yukon School District

The Lower Yukon School District will use these funds, in combination with State and local funds, to replace the Hooper Bay School, which suffers from several health and safety conditions and is poorly located near the village sewage lagoon. The school serves approximately 400 Alaska Native children.

Tuba City Unified School District #15

The Tuba City Unified School District will use these funds, along with local funds, to replace the Tuba City High School, which is structurally unsafe and partially unusable due to fire damage.

Pryor Elementary School District #2

These funds will be used to make a large number of emergency repairs to the Pryor Elementary School, which serves approximately 65 children from the Crow Reservation.

These funds will be used to repair the deteriorated wood piling foundation of the Jimmy Huntington School, which is in danger of failing. The school serves approximately 40 Alaska Native children of the Huslia village.

Rocky Boy High School District #87-L

These funds will be used to replace the roof, upgrade the HVAC system, and reconstruct the plumbing of Rocky Boy High School, which educates approximately 130 children from the Rocky Boy Reservation.

Funds will be used to provide a permanent water source for the STAR Charter School, repair the foundation, add a solar energy system to supplement electrical capacity, improve handicapped accessibility, and improve the roof, gutters and downspouts. The STAR School serves 37 children on the Navajo Reservation.

Funds will help the Lower Kuskokwim School District to replace the Toksook Bay Elementary School, which has several emergency conditions that make it unsuitable for repair. Approximately 190 Alaska Native students attend the Toksook Bay Elementary School. Grants for the Kwethluk, Napaskiak, and Tuntutuliak Schools will be used to implement new water filtration systems to correct elevated levels of arsenic and organics in the existing water supply. Together these four schools serve approximately 450 Alaska Native children.

Grand Forks Air Force Base School District #140

The middle school serves approximately 166 military dependent children on the Minot Air Force Base. North Plains Elementary School serves 447 such children, and Dakota Elementary School serves 480 military dependent children.

Approximately 325 military dependent children at Fort Huachuca attend the Colonel Smith Middle School. Approximately 453 military dependent children attend the Colonel Johnston Elementary School.
