FWSIM BOARD MEETING

Meeting MinutesJune24, 2010

1. Opening:

The regular meeting of the FWSIM Executive Committee was called to order

at 4:44 PM on June24, 2010 atthe Patterson Country Club, Fairfieldby Mike

Pellegrino.

All Present unless noted below.

Attending via Phone – None

Absent – Norm Jacknis, Larry Bonfante, Robert Barocas, Andres Fortino, Bruce Simons, Lee Shull, Sigal Zarmi, and Deb Tatar

2.Approval of Minutes

The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. M/S/P.

3. Membership

  • Rhona reported 206 paid members
  • There are 5 new members paying dues after July 1st
  • The following new members were approved for membership: Mark Katz, Michael LaPerch, Frank O’Dowd and Scott Grandville
  • Discussion and vote on continuing membership for John Bucknavage after going into MIT status during 2009; M/S/P

4.Old Business

Tri-State Strategy Session

  • Brief discussion on what action items are pending and point people have agreed to reach out to peers in NY/NJ.
  • Beverly L. reports program committees are sharing good speakers as ideas for other chapters
  • Greg Fell has shared mentoring information via email with other chapters

  • No report

Academic Initiative

  • No report

Mentoring – Greg F.

  • Groups continue to meet.

Communities of Interest – Ursuline

  • No report

Member Services – Joe P.

  • Will be meeting with committee after regular meeting

Members in Transition – Ed P.

  • Rhona and John Barry will meet with anyone interested after the regular meeting.

8.Arrangements

  • 53 members registered
  • Host of club is Greg Fell
  • Clambake set for August 12th at Tod’s Point Greenwich

8.Programs

IBM – Innovation

  • Scheduled for July 21st; Hawthorne NY
  • Invites to go out week of June 27th
  • An IBM Fellow will be presenting to the group
  • Discussion was had about controlling numbers until we had a sense of how many members were registering. Bev. L stated that she had already invited a couple people, the board saw no issue with this small number already invited.

Sept 16

  • Tina Nunno will present on what Machiavelli would do as a CIO (Strategy-Tactics-operations)

Oct 25– CIO Forum

  • Greenwich Hyatt
  • IBM has signed up as sponsor and is supplying a speaker(s)
  • CVS CIO to do a key note
  • Deputy CIO of Deloitte to present
  • Salesforce.com may become sponsor
  • Urs suggested speaker David Smith for Forum

Nov 18

  • Looking at either at technical topic or career topic
  • List of possible speakers was given by members of board

Dec 8

  • Holiday Party

9.Misc & New Business

  • SIMI has launched new site
  • Extended features are now available
  • Time was spent going over what would be presented to membership during meeting
  • Jeff Galdenzi will “MC” event

The next meeting will be held on July21th at IBM R&D - Hawthorne.
