Final PhaseforEducationBudget-2014-2015

PLEASE NOTE: The Board of Education will officially vote to reduce the Education Budget in accordance with the reductions from all town bodies onTuesday, May 20that Fairfield Woods Middle School. This meeting will start immediately after the Superintendent’s Awards Ceremony at approximately7:30 PM.The Board will vote to reduce the budget given the Superintendent’s Proposed Budget Adjustments,Board of Education Agenda 5/19/2014or they may propose some of their own alternatives as long as the Education Budget is reduced by the full $1.3 million amount.

Parents who have concerns about any of the proposed adjustments are encouraged to write to the Board of Education nd/orattend theMay 20thBudget Vote meeting.Public Comment will be heard.

Special 8th Grade Student Recognition

Congratulations to the following 8th grade students who are receiving special awards in the coming weeks:

8th Grade Risky Business Program

On Tuesday, May 20th, all grade 8 students will participating in the 16thannual Risky Business program. Students will attend 4 sessions in the morning that focus on healthy decision making in the high school. The sessions are:

  1. The Fairfield Police department continuing the discussion on Social Media dangers and the law.
  2. Wilton High senior speaking on her struggles and success with the stress of high school, anxiety and depression.
  3. Fairfield Warde High seniors discussing, “What I Wish I knew Freshman Year!”
  4. Fairfield Warde High Key Club discussing club, sport and activity opportunities at the high schools.

For parents / guardian of 8th graders:Moving up ceremonies will take placeon Wednesdaymorning,June 18th at 9:00 a.m.in the Warde HS gymnasium. Students should come to Woods in the morning as usual and "dressed up" for the ceremony. They will be bused to Warde for the ceremony.

Thank you for sending in your Box Tops. We collected and submitted over 2,300 Box Tops in our last submission for this school year. FWMS will receive a check for over $230 sometime in April. That money will be used to benefit our children.

Please KEEP ON CLIPPING! Send to the school's main office. Every Box Top is worth 10 cents and every cent counts!

SEPTA2013-2014

The Fairfield Special Education PTA (SEPTA) will be holdinga fundraiser,"SEPTA Rocks On!" onSaturday May 31, 2014 from 7-10 pm.There will belive entertainment featuring "BirdsOver Arkansas",Silent Auctions, Door Prizes, Food & Cash Bar.The event will be held at the Gaelic-American Club in Fairfield.

DISASTER RECOVERY GROUP PERFORMING SANDY NEEDS ASSESSMENT:CT Rises, a statewide long-term recovery organization, is sponsoring a volunteer team from World Renew that is opening a temporary five-day Walk-in-Center at the Fairfield Senior Center, 100 Mona Terrace, to assess unmet Storm Sandy-related needs. A CT Rises volunteer from the Red Cross or from another affiliated organization will also be available at the Walk-in-Center.

Camp Invention allows children to explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)concepts via hands-on, creative problem solving activities. It inspires children to be curious about their world and prepares them for the future. The Show Me Basketball Camp at Fairfield Ludlowe High Schoolis pleased to announce another exciting week of camp this summer....John Dailey, the Ludlowe Boys Varsity Basketball Coach, is running the "Show Me Basketball Camp" at FLHS for elementary and middle school age children.
