FUTMINNA GOVERNING COUNCIL IS BACK

F

ollowing the approval of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Minna which was dissolved last year is to continue and serve out its term.

The President’s directive was conveyed to the University by the Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, Professor Julius Okojie, OON, in a memo of 9th February, 2012.

Consequently, the Registrar has in a letter of 20th February, 2012 conveyed Mr. President’s directive to Professor Ahmed Rufai Alkali, Chairman of the Governing Council and other members of Council for further necessary action.

The Council was appointed on 22nd April 2009 and will be in post until 21st April, 2013.

STRATEGIC WORKSHOP FOR FUT, MINNA MANAGEMENT

A

rrangements have been concluded with management training consulting firm JENCEL CONSULTS Limited, Owerri to organize a three-day in-house workshop from Tuesday 28th February to Thursday, 1st March, 2012 for the top Management of Federal University of Technology, Minna.

The venue for the workshop is the Senate Chambers and it will start at 9:00am each day.

Principal Officers, Deans, Directors/Chairmen of Boards and Heads of

Department are hereby invited to attend promptly and participate fully in the workshop.

CODeL WORKSHOP CHANGE OF DATE, VENUE

T

he Centre for Open Distance and e-Learning (CODeL) 5-day workshop for the training of University staff who are key pioneering facilitators on Instructional System Design Application on e-learning, earlier scheduled for 27thFebruary to 2nd March has been rescheduled to now hold from 5th March to 9th March, 2012.

The event will hold in the Senate Chambers and not in the earlier stated Engineering Lecture Hall, School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET) from 9:00am daily. Participants are expected to come along with their laptops, lecture notes and possibly modems, in the event of network failure.

Admission Requirements

T

he minimum entry requirement is five (5) O’Level (SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB or other equivalent) credits at not more than two sittings including: English Language, Mathematics and Physics plus any other two from Sciences, Geography and Economics.

Applicants must have scored the JAMB minimum cut off point at Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). However, candidates who meet the minimum O’Level requirement can also apply.

Duration of Programmes

The minimum period is 10 academic semesters. Nevertheless, a candidate is free to work at his/her own pace towards graduation.

RENEWAL OF APPOINTMENT

he Vice-Chancellor has approved the renewal of visiting appointment of Dr. Sam A. Ocholi as a Senior Lecture for one year, in the Department of Entrepreneurship and Business Technology, School of Entrepreneurship and Management Technology (SEMT) with effect from 1st February, 2012.
