Job Title:Fundraising Supporter Officer

Responsible To: Senior Supporter Development Officer

Location:Butterfly Conservation’s Head Office at East Lulworth

Salary:£22,168 - £26,300 pa (Grade C) plus 5% pension contribution

Duration:Established post

Job Purpose:

  • To support the work of the busy fundraising and supporter team with all operations and activities
  • Line management of the servicing team to ensure high levels of customer care are maintained for all our supporters.

Specific tasks:

  1. Oversee processing and servicing of all membership renewals, new members and donations, including line management of servicing team (currently two members of staff). Develop and implement a customer care policy to improve and maintain excellent communications with all supporters.
  1. Responsible for managing and servicing BC’s online shop via Shopify - including sourcing and liaising with new and existing suppliers, reviewing and updating range of merchandise and uploading new products, downloading and tracking the processing of orders and dealing with returns, feedback and customer enquiries.
  1. Review and update supporter leaflets, membership cards and literature for membership welcome packs and ensure sufficient stocks are ordered and available when required.
  1. Assist with all aspects of recruitment and upgrade campaigns, including research and monitoring trends and activities of other charities to contribute towards future supporter engagement.
  1. Assist with appeals, regular giving programme, rafflesand lotteries with responsibility for ensuring efficient thanking and processing of donations.
  1. Assist with co-ordinating and maintaining BC’s supporter communication matrix, including segmentation and maintenance of extensive mailing data and running multiple large mail merges.
  1. Assist with digital marketing campaigns using our Dotmailer contacts database (current 55,000 email addresses).
  1. Review and update Google Adwords campaign to maximise effectiveness.
  1. Keep all supporter correspondence up to date and relevant, including analysis and segmentation of data to allow for greater personalisation of mailings.
  1. Develop triggered automatic email responses for new members and supporters.
  1. Introduce and manage a lapsed member reactivation programme.
  1. Develop and implement a long service award scheme for members who have supported BC for more than 10 years.
  1. Liaison with Branch volunteers regarding supporter development and servicing, including dealing with queries and supply of resources.
  1. Co-ordinate and oversee the work of all volunteers assisting with fundraising/membership tasks at Manor Yard.
  1. Organise and attend relevant events to undertake face to face supporter recruitment, ie annual three day Rutland Birdfair in August.
  1. Assist with market research and profiling of our supporter database to inform future campaigns.
  1. Undertake general administration in support of the funding and supporter team as required.
  1. Any other duties that may be relevant to the post as agreed with your Line Manager.

Technical/specialist skills

  1. Excellent working knowledge and experience of office administration.
  2. Excellent communication and first class customer care skills.
  3. Working knowledge and experience of digital media and its successful applications
  4. Experience of managing large mailing lists and undertaken mail merges.
  5. Experience of working with supporter databases (BC currently uses ASI’s Progress database).

MAIN CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Job Title: Fundraising SupporterOfficer

Place of work:Butterfly Conservation’s Head Office at Manor Yard, East Lulworth, Wareham, Dorset, BH20 5QP.

The office has a no-smoking policy.

Salary:£22,168 - £26,300 pa (Band C) for a suitably qualified and experienced person.

Pension:Butterfly Conservation will pay a sum equivalent to 5% of your salary into a Stakeholder Pension Scheme with Aviva.

Probationary Period:This post is subject to a six-month probationary period.

Duration:Established post.

Hours:Full time 37 hours per week, but working will be flexible and may include some evening and weekend work. Time-off-in-lieu will be allowed for all overtime worked.

Annual Leave:The annual leave entitlement for the first full year of full-time employment is 23 days per annum plus statutory public holidays.
