Fundraising and Marketing Coordinator

Job Description

Salary:£29,424 pro-rata (includes Inner London Weighting)

Hours:14-15 hrs p/wk

Location:Wandsworth

Purpose of post

  • To coordinate the marketing and community and corporate fundraising functions with the aim of increasing income and raising the profile of Age UK Wandsworth and increasing stakeholder engagement with the charity.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Fundraising:

  • To develop and implement Age UK Wandsworth’s community fundraising strategy.
  • Identify community fundraising opportunities and ways of developing and expanding Age UK Wandsworth’s fundraising activities.
  • Develop and implement, in conjunction with the Fundraising Committee, a corporate fundraising strategy, building relationships with local businesses.
  • Lead on supporter relationship management to encourage long-term, repeat giving
  • Organise and promote a series of community fundraising activities and events, such as sponsored runs etc. and provide support to individuals who are organising fundraising events
  • Organise, run and manage small fundraising events, such as pub quizzes
  • Promote fundraising campaigns
  • Develop and promote legacy giving
  • Ensure website and other online sites are kept up to date with fundraising news and activities
  • Develop systems to ensure swift acknowledgement of all financial donations to Age UK Wandsworthand maintain good records of all fundraising activity
  • Provide updates and reports to funders and donors as required

Marketing and communications:

  • Promote Age UK Wandsworth to older people, the wider public, local influential public figures and other organisations supporting and representing older people in the borough
  • Develop and maintain the Age UK Wandsworth website, ensuring all content is accurate, up-to-date, relevant and compelling.
  • Develop our regular social media presence, including Facebook, Twitter and Next Door, ensuring content is engaging and relevant and increase numbers of followers
  • Use all relevant forms of media to market Age UK Wandsworth to key stakeholders, including printed materials, website, social media, mail, display materials and print/broadcast media, ensuring information is current and regularly updated.
  • Monitor and review use of website
  • Respond to comments and queries from supporters and followers received through Age UK Wandsworth communication channels
  • Liaise with other staff, understanding their marketing priorities and needs and provide appropriate marketing support
  • Work with colleagues to gather powerful case studies, stories, images and evidence for fundraising and marketing purposes.
  • Design and produce marketing materials in line with Age UK brand guidelines, such as the annual report, newsletter and service leaflets
  • Manage the relationships with current and potential suppliers, ensuring best value at all times
  • Produce press releases to attract media attention and distribute to all relevant media contacts

General

  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders including members of the public, key supporters, donors and prospective donors and corporates.
  • Manage the fundraising and marketing activities, liaising with other staff, ensuring that activities are delivered in a cost effective manner.
  • Ensure fundraising and marketing activities are consistent with our values and policy positions.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of new developments and the latest thinking in fundraising.
  • Advise the CEO and colleagues on changes in Charity Law and other legislation as it relates to fundraising.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as appropriate, including staff meetings.
  • Work within Age UK Wandsworth’s policies, ensuring these are carried out in relation to the job
  • Undertake administrative andother general duties as appropriate to the roleor as requested by the Line Manager.
  • Provide a high level of internal and external customer service at all times
  • Travel independently within the borough, and occasionally within London, to attend various meetings and events
  • The post may involve occasional evening or weekend work, for which time off in lieu can be claimed

Experience and knowledge

  1. A proven and successful track recordin raising income and support from individuals and corporates(E)
