Fund Raising and Marketing Committee meeting 16/08/2012

Meeting started at 7.05pm

  2. Matter arising - covered in agendas
  3. Correspondence – N/A
  4. Collingham Garden Lunch - Our thanks go to Bob for all his hard and to everyone who helped. Peter Hall said that the allocated seating worked very well. Ivor has asked the President to write to Anna and Tim to thank them and also to invite them to the Rotary Club of Newark's Charter night.
  5. Hog Roast - LC confirmed that one pig had been ordered and that this would feed about 100 people with a limited amount for seconds. Final numbers need to be given to Mark on the 6 September. Inner Wheel to provide sweets whilst Rotary members provide salads. Inner wheel have been in touch regarding the donation Rotary make for the sweets. Lynn Woolmer hinted that they would like a bit more than the usual £60.00. It was suggested that we donate £75.00. LC to send an email to all Rotary members reminding them of the Hog Roast and asking for raffle prizes. Peter Hall to take charge of the money. LC to organise the prizes and raffle. Nigel to help LC if he is available. Ivor to ask for help to erect the marquees and to get set up. Ivor to buy plastic plates and knives and forks. We will also need to ask people to help serve although Inner Wheel are usually happy to do this.Tickets are £12.00
  6. Race Nights - Nothing to report
  7. Ferret Racing -LC has rang Ashfield Ferrets, as suggested by Simon Shaw, and the cost for the evening are £200.00. Ashfield will set up at about 6.30pm and will be ready to go at 7.30pm until about 10pm. However during the evening there will be about a half an hour break for food. There will be 5 racing lanes and 10 races. Races to be sponsored for £25.00 each. Betting also takes place at £1.00 a bet. LC to confirm with Ashfield as to how this works. Ashfield have someone else interested in the same date as us. David Pattinson to confirm venue and date with John Miller and to liaise with LC.
  8. Palace Theatre - Nothing to report
  9. "An Audience with ....." This has not been taken any further. Ken Clark, Charlie Carr and Nigel Chapman have all been suggested as speakers. LC waiting for costs.
  10. Flintham show - It was agreed that we would have a stand at the show in partnership with Castle where we would run a tombola (bottles). Bottles wanted for the tombola.
  11. Skittles - has been booked for the 28 June 2013.
  12. Mulled Wine - Mike Wright to organise again this year (all in hand).
  13. Waitrose and ASDA - David Shannon organsing the collection. Dates are 19, 20 and 22 December. It was decided not to bother with ASDA.
  14. Santa Clause Walk -Nigel to look into this further, but it was agreed to discuss this at Council.

  16. Robin Hood Theatre - Peter to organise a trip to see a play in January. This is done independently from Rotary.
  17. Murder Mystery night - Peter Hall to speak to Wendy to get costs regarding holding the event at the Rugby Club
