InsideOutside Theatre Company was created five year’s ago with a mission to produce inclusive and immersive theatre in unusual spaces and enable everyone to have access to quality theatre either through participation or as audience members.
ABOUT THE SHOW
SHOW SYNPOSIS
The show was written in 2015 and first performed for Queensland Pioneer Steam Railway in Ipswich. It is now a monthly show on their steam train engaging audiences from across Queensland and further afield.
It is performed in dinner theatre format and is fully interactive comprising:
- Murder mystery performance
- Dinner (InsideOutside caterers or venues own)
- Clue packs
- Interactive questioning
- Acted conclusion
- Prize giving ceremony
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The show was written and directed by InsideOutside Theatre Company Artistic Director, Angela Witcher. It features an intergenerational ‘rolling’ company of performers with diverse backgrounds.
PERFORMANCE SPECIFICS
DURATION
Performance – 30 minutes
Dinner – 30 minutes
Clues and questioning – 45 minutes
Dessert – 15 minutes
Conclusion and presentation – 10 minutes
SUITABLE VENUES
The show can be performed anywhere where people can sit and partake of refreshments. This could be cabaret seating in a theatre, village hall or black box; picnic seating outside, afternoon tea in a hotel or café and on a moving train or boat. It is a very versatile format.

AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT
OVERVIEW
The show is fully interactive and audience members are invited to come dressed in the ‘period’ – 1930s or as their favourite detective. We have performed to very mixed audiences including seniors, young people and visitors from overseas. Our actors are local emerging performers, some of whom have a history of mental health illness or other invisible disabilities.
COST
One off presenter fee which is set on a ‘per head’ basis with an agreed minimum (usually we perform to between 30 and 100 people).

An interactive murder mystery dinner performance.
Short
Full Steam Ahead is an interactive murder mystery production, best served up with dinner, set on a train in France in the 1930s. Guests are invited to dress up and become detectives to help solve a murder most foul.
Extended
InsideOutside Theatre has been producing original murder mystery shows at venues including cafes, restaurants and on a steam train since 2013. The show includes performance, clues, interactive questioning of suspects, yummy food, detective led conclusion and prizes for the best (and worst) teams. A funpacked night of entertainment awaits.
MARKETING SUMMARY
We have designs for flyers and posters which can be tailored to various venues; social media banners and a draft media release. We have found that a strong social media presence and coverage in print media works well for our show.

PRODUCTION DETAILS
TECHNICAL SUMMARY
If available at venue, a general stage wash works well but is not necessary. No mics required. Props are minimal (one bench) and small props which are carried by the performers and there are no sound requirements.
EXAMPLE SCHEDULE
Access to venue 1.5 hours before show due to commence so that performers can familiarise themselves with the space, warm up and rehearse.
CREW REQUIRED FROM VENUE
No crew requirements – company manager will handle.
STAGE
Show can be adapted to fit any venue.
InsideOutside Theatre Companywill supply all props, costumes and anything else associated with the show.
Venue to supply – audience please.
WARDROBE
InsideOutside Theatre Company will supply all costumes.
Venue to supply a green room which does not have to be a dressing room but should have a full length mirror and either air conditioning or a fan.
FREIGHT NOTES
No freight – everything is in a props case which travels with the company.
