FULL COURT CONDOLENCE MEETING IN CHIEF JUSTICE’S COURT ON 30.04.2010 AT 03.45 P.M TO MOURN THE SAD DEMISE OF LATE JUSTICE J.S. TRIVEDI, LATE JUSTICE K.P. SINGH, RETIRED JUDGES AND LATE K.G. SRIVASTAVA, AN ADVOCATE OF THIS COURT.

My Esteemed Colleagues, Learned members of the Bar and the members of the Registry,

We have assembled here this afternoon to mourn the sad demise of Late Justice J.S. Trivedi, Late Justice K.P. Singh, former Judges of this High Court and Late K.G. Srivastava, an Advocate of this Court.

Late Justice Trivedi was born on 15th September 1911 in the district of Sitapur. After obtaining LL.B. degree from Banaras Hindu University, he was enrolled as an Advocate on 25th January 1947. Since his father was a famous Advocate at Sitapur, he decided to come in the field of law. Initially he started his practice in district court of Sitapur but later on he shifted his practice to the Chief Court of Oudh and thereafter to Supreme Court of India. He took his early lessons in the chambers of Late S.C. Das, a great lawyer of that era. He was also appointed as Standing Counsel for the State of U.P.

His ability in the field of law was appreciated by all. He was elevated as Additional Judge of this Court on 3rd April 1967 and thereafter as permanent Judge on 17th March 1969. He retired in the year 1973.

He left for heavenly abode on 16th April 2010. He is survived by his son, Justice D.K. Trivedi, a former Judge of this Court.

Late Justice K.P. Singh was born on 5th August 1929. After obtaining LL.B. Degree from Allahabad University, he was called upon to join the Bar in September 1955 and chose to practice in this High Court. He soon made a mark on civil and revenue matters. He appeared in second appeals, revisions, writs, first appeals and references in the High Court and the Board of Revenue. He was sworn in as a permanent Judge of this Court on 17th November 1977 and demitted the said office on 4th August 1991.

Justice Singh contained in him all the high qualities of a judge i.e. the ability, experience, patience, calmness and courtesy.

The judicial journey undertaken by Justice Singh was adorable. Law reports bear the testimony of his vast learning. Judgments rendered by him are cited with respect. He was man of simple living but high thinking. He was friendly to everybody and enjoyed a good reputation in the Bench and Bar.

For sometimes Justice Singh was fighting the vagaries of the old age but ultimately the Death’s icy hands snatched him away from us on 19th April 2010.

With the passing away of these two Judges, it seems that an era has come to an end.

Late K.G. Srivastava was born on 7th October 1930. He obtained his LL.B. degree in First Class from Allahabad University in the year 1953. In 1954, he started his practice as a pleader in district court of Allahabad but in August 1961, he shifted his practice to this High Court. He enjoyed the profession of law about 50 years. He led a simple life. He was friendly to everybody and enjoyed a good reputation amongst his colleagues and friends.

He left for heavenly abode on 5th March 2010, leaving behind his widow and two sons, both are Advocates of this Court.

We all know, death is inevitable but it is not easy for us to forget them.

We express our heart-felt condolences to the members of the bereaved families and pray to Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed souls and give solace and strength to the members of the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss.

We shall stand and observe two minutes’ silence to pay our homage to the departed souls.

As a mark of respect to the departed souls, the judicial work of the Court for the rest of the day shall remain suspended.
