Hi. I'm Alan Edwards the Federal Safety Commissioner. I'm very pleased to announce the release of FSC Online. One exciting feature is that companies can now apply for accreditation online. What's more, companies will find they can push a 'Learn More' button against every criterion which will bring down straightforward information about what will and perhaps more importantly, what won't meet the scheme requirements.

FSC Online will also help building and construction companies that are already accredited. For example companies can apply for reaccreditation and key information will be prepopulated in the online form. This will save companies time and provide a more streamlined process with better guidance and support.

FSC Online takes a big step forward in streamlining the interaction between our accredited companies and the office. Companies will be able to log into their own home page and this first release already provides some initial metrics about each company's own accreditation status.

Future releases will significantly increase the information available to companies such as allowing them to assess their performance against averages of other companies.

I'll now hand you over to Damien Booth from our Communications Team to guide you through some of the basics of FSC Online.

[Damien Booth speaking]

Hi. I'm Damien Booth from the OFSC's Communications Team. I'll be explaining some of the basics of FSC Online and how these will benefit the overall management of your FSC accreditation.

This initial launch of FSC Online allows new companies to lodge their first application for accreditation online. Applicants will be assisted by on screen guidance material presented in clear language. [Text saying: “Companies can lodge online applications”]

Companies who are currently accredited or who have been accredited in the past can also now lodge their application for reaccreditation using FSC Online. [Text saying: “Registered users can view Scheme metrics online”]

Once registered on the system both new companies and accredited companies will also be able to view their accreditation status, expiry date and the date of their last audit. Companies will also be able to view the due date for your next biennial report. [Text saying: “Currently accredited companies will receive logon instructions from the OFSC”]

If your company is currently accredited the contact person will have already received an email from us with a link and details to access a prepopulated FSC Online account. Please contact us if you need for this email to be resent to them or a different person if you've had recent staffing changes.

Once logged in you will then need to nominate a main contact person and you can add additional users as required. [Screenshot of FSC Online website with highlighted Text saying "FSC Online"]

To start using FSC online you can click on the 'FSC Online' link that is located on the FSC website at

You're now on the FSC Online home page. The first time you logon you will need to set up an eCitizen account. Click on the register for an eCitizen account link in the bottom corner. [Screenshot of FSC Online website with highlighted section with Text saying "eCitizen"]Once you have created and confirmed your eCitizen account, you will be able to log into FSC Online.

If you already have an eCitizen account you won't need to create a new one. Simply enter your existing details and login.[Screenshot of FSC Online website page with Text saying: "Accreditation Application Form"]

If you're logging in to complete your first application for accreditation the first step will be create your FSC Online profile. You will be asked to nominate a main contact person for the application. After you have nominated your account contact person you will be able to add additional users that can access your company's account.

For example you may wish to create an account for your CEO or other board members so they can log into FSC Online and monitor your company's WHS performance in the future or track the progress of applications.

Once you have created your company's account and assigned any new user logons you are ready to begin an application for accreditation. Or for existing accredited companies you can also commence an application for reaccreditation. [Screenshot of FSC Online website page with Text saying: "Accreditation Audit Site Nomination"]

In completing your application FSC Online will require you to provide a range of information including your company information, some key WHS past performance data, details of upcoming scheme projects that you may be currently tendering on and details of site availability to help arrange your accreditation audit.

Once this information is complete the next step is to complete your work health safety management System Map. [Screenshot of FSC Online website page with Text saying: "System Map"]

This part of the application addresses our Scheme audit criteria and asks you to provide system references for each criterion listed. On screen guidance will explain each criterion as you complete the application. These fields are mandatory and your application will not progress unless the entire System Map has been completed.

Following the completion of the System Map you will then be asked to complete a declaration and submit your application. You will of course be able to print your application after submission if you would like to keep a hard copy for your records. An important thing to note is that throughout each section of FSC Online building guidance and help is available. In addition to the information provided on each page you can access additional help by clicking on the question mark of each page. Please also feel free to contact us if you have any feedback or suggestions on how we can improve FSC Online.

Alan Edwards:

Thanks Damien, this is just the beginning. For example later this year further upgrades to FSC Online will allow electronic lodgement of company reports. This includes notification by companies of new scheme projects and safety incident reporting. We'll continue working with key industry associations and other stakeholders as we make further improvements. Thank you for your commitment to safety in the building industry.
