From Your Branch President–Ahoy Shipmates! I’ve just returned recently from the 71st FRA Southeast Regional Convention, and am pleased to report the following: Branch 22 took 1st place in the Region, Group II, for Americanism-Patriotism; 2nd place for Hospitals, Welfare, and Rehabilitation; and 3rd place in Public Relations. Kudos go out to the Chairmen of these three committees.

Congratulations go out to PRPSE James “Robbie” Robbins, Jacksonville Branch 91, elected Regional President and Shipmate J.J. Thomas, West Jacksonville Branch 126, elected Regional Vice President. We wish them the very best as they administer the affairs of the Region and Association in the coming year.

I’m also pleased to announce that your Branch Officers, working together as a team, have saved $2,700 a year in insurance costs by researching and obtaining a new carrier. Well Done Branch 22 Board of Directors!! As I prepare for October’s National Convention in Jacksonville, FL, I again want to thank every Shipmate for maintaining your membership regardless of whether you can make a meeting or not. You are the life-blood of Branch 22. Talk up the benefits of the FRA to your friends, and give them my phone number (listed above). I’d be happy to answer any questions they may have.

I am ready to do whatever it takes to re-vitalize our Branch, and look forward to, and encourage input from our membership.

Until our next newsletter, I remain yours in Loyalty, Protection, and Service -Jim Richmond-

From Your Unit President–First of all,I want to say a special thank you to Shipmate Bob Hall for helping the Unit get ready for our yard sale last month. He made our signs and put them where they could be seen by passersby among other things. I also want to say thanks to everyone that brought stuff for the yard sale and to the ladies who came and helped. Preparing for the yard sale and cleaning up afterwards is a lot of work but this is our only means of raising money for now to help with our annual projects. Also, we have our ongoing Toys for Tots drive, anyone who wants to donate a brand new toy (unwrapped), you can drop it at the branch home anytime between 0900 and 1400 on Tuesdays.

Congratulations to our newly-elected Southeast Region Officers: President Vera Thomas, Unit 126, West Jacksonville, FL; and Vice President Gail Bolz, Unit 269, Goose Creek, SC

We want to keep in touch with you! So if we have an incorrect address; or, you are making plans to move, please let either myself or Joanne Rice know so we may update our records.

Birthday wishes to all celebrating their special day, our deepest sympathy to those who lost a loved one, and get well wishes to those who are ill. God bless.

In Loyalty, Protection and Service -Babe Kilgore-
