From what frequent activity do you derive your greatest joy? Why is this activity meaningful to you, and how does it shape your perspective on life? (500 words or less)

In a world where anguish, discrimination, and social anxiety exist, there is a frequent activity that I do that gives me the most elite joy from this world. Some may say this activity is atrocious because this activity is exposed to crime and violence. To me, this is an interest that I do where many different people come together and that is riding the New York City subway. It brings out the personalities of variety of people. While I am in the subway, I encounter many individuals. I experience a world full of different cultures, traditions, and people. The subway allows one’s personalities, character, and inclusive self to be visible. Without it, the life of the subway will be colorless, all black and white, and not blooming. Just like looking at a rainbow where at the ends, there’s gold and in between, there's a color that brings calmness. Riding the trains and the atmosphere of the subway bring joy and happiness to me.

Enjoying the ride of trains rose from the frequent back and forth commuting to school and home. And recently, I partake in riding trains more often because I study in Hunter College. Riding trains builds my ecstasy because it’s a place where one is able to express himself. For instance, there are people who read books on the subway, which tells me that they like to keep to themselves. They enjoy fictional stories where impossibilities can happen. They are so engaged in the novel as if it is grabbed them by the eyes. There are also people who like to play games especially action games. These fictional characters, stories, combat, and more are means of surviving. They use armor, weapons, etc. to survive, and to get over the possible ways of dying. These show that these people like challenges, and that they are open to perceptions. They are risk takers, and this shows a lot about the people. They are also ambitious.

Riding the subway shapes my point of view on life in a few ways. Riding the subway tells me how one perceives their role in society and in life using their morals and values. I see, for example, how men or even healthy individuals give up their seat to the elderly, disabled, or pregnant women. My point of view from this is that life is full of incredible, kind, meaningful, and remarkable people, no matter in which way or where you perceive it from. It shapes my perspective in a positive direction because of the way how the world is set up. It’s a matter of how you perceive the conditions lying around.
