Your task was to evaluate some blog entries. This was worth 200 points so you had to have something of depth. You had to have something done well.

These comments you made were to shared with the original blogger in their comment section. What good does it do if it just comes to me.

So…please make sure you send your comments to the person you commented on. Group leaders---you are responsible for making sure your members do this. The comments should be attached to the blog itself to make them most useful.

Did you WOW me? Were your comments depthful. Were your comments interesting.

Here is an example of what someone turned in. This is their whole assignment. Tell me if you are impressed:

Original post "Tower Building"

Today we talked about what we should have learned during the tower building exercise. The lesson was about cohesiveness, the glue that holds a group together. I find that this is very true from experience. I am positive that any championship team in any team sport would also agree. It is amazing what people can do when they create and work together to accomplish common goals.

Another leadership lesson that I really took to heart from today's class was the one about how to select a team. Feinberg said that you want to select a team that has people that are better than you are so that they sort of bring you to their level. You should never settle for mediocrity. I think that this something that everybody in society should hear. I think that nowadays being mediocre is seen as OK or almost good, most parents seem to let their children lead mediocre lives as long as their not failures. I don't think that there is much encouragement for people to become great or it is seen as too hard to be great.

"Impossible is nothing" and "Failure is not an option" are also two quotes we had today in class that I will believe will stick with me.

Response

Xxx makes a good point about how you need to have a team to help you to truly become successful. It is hard to be sucessful all by yourself. It is always good to have different ideas about projects or situations in general because someone may come up with something great that you may have never thought about.

Original Post "Losing Focus"

I have been starting to lose my focus with school in general. It is hard to get excited and enthused when I have been worried about graduation and getting a job so much. I have been making some poor decisions and know it. So guess what I am going to start making better choices. A leader needs to push through and look at the light at the end of the tunnel.

One way I intend on starting to change some of my behaviors is by posting some notes around my room like Feinberg suggested. And I also plan on starting to give myself little motivators on the way. Get all your work done before it is due, not just by an hour but at least 2 days and buy something for myself, a meal out, bottle of wine something that increases my morale.

Comment

I agree as well. Finding a job is one of the most stressful things you are faced with as a student. It is good that you are trying to build moral, it will help so much in the long run and keep you calm in your job search. Good work.

There is nothing wrong with the comments but please is this worth 200 Points.

Here is an ode to Blogging by Ms. Redfearn

Ode to Blog Feedback

Each student needs to “wow” you;

With their Blog Feedback Assignment.

I’ve thought of many different ways to do so,

Even forcing myself into solitary confinement.

We were given leaders and eventually formed a group

And even had a guest speaker who taught us about poop!

Through movie reviews, memos and blog feedback too;

We’re learning things about leadership, even becoming one…who knew?

We’ve posted and posted opinions for many weeks;

Discussing topics that hopefully, were anything but bleak.

Discussions and comments were always accepted

I think this might be one of Dr. Feinberg’s mysterious teaching methods.

My words may not all rhyme and

A powerpoint might have been better,

But this poem is much cooler

Than just e-mailing you a letter.

I’ve learned a lot from this class

Especially from Dr. Feinberg too

I think I’m finally becoming a leader

And that’s all thanks to you!

Here are some examples of interesting and creative ways to have done this assignment. If you believe that your response to this assignment was as good as these talk to your group leader. Did your entry have depth and creativity like these. You could have had depth (long analyses of blog entry…you could have had quantity (shorter entries over more blog entries…you could have been creative (see then ppt’s attached).

Congratulations to Ms. Quasny, Mr. Brown, Ms. Varano, Ms. Carson, Ms. Jamison, Ms. Brandt, Mr Nix, Ms. Molina, Ms Smith whose work stands as an example of how this assignment would get one to say WOW.
