RE: Child Find Screening - Spring 2017
The 2016-17 Regional Plan developed at the Preschool Regional Planning committee meeting called for dissemination of information on the availability of Early Childhood Intervention to parents of preschool children in the ESU 16 area. In order to meet schools’ varying printing schedules and to facilitate the understanding that evaluation is available through the year, specific dates have not been set.
As in the past, we are asking for your help in getting the word out about this screening. To assist you with this task, we have enclosed the following:
1. A copy of the news release to be disseminated to area media on or about
January 9, 2017.
2. Two brochures “It’s Never Too Early” and “Nebraska Early Development Network Services Coordination”. Please circulate these via your next school newsletter and/or send copies home with your elementary students.
3. A sample copy of a notice which can be placed on school or community bulletin boards. Feel free to distribute copies of this. We also included smaller sizes that could be put on sports programs, etc.
In addition, ESU 16 will be sending similar materials to area preschools, daycares and churches. In an effort to dispel the myth that screening is available only two weeks out of the year, materials sent to parents and child care agencies will be undated.
Thank you for your cooperation in making Child Find Screenings a success and fulfilling state requirements to find and serve preschool children with disabilities.
