Late Work, Assignment/Project Grades & Zeroes

Late work will not be accepted. Students will be allowed plenty of class time to work on assignments and projects each six weeks. It is each student’s individual responsibility to complete work as assigned. No grades will be dropped.

ATTENDANCE AND MAKE-UP WORK:

If you must miss class, see the student handbook for make-up work timelines. The student is responsible for asking the teacher for make-up work and making sure it is turned in on time.

CLASS RULES:

Each of the following class rules will be a determining factor for your weekly Professional Practices grade. All students will be graded on a daily basis, with their combined weekly average posted each Friday.

TARDIES

A student who attempts to enter class after the tardy bell rings will be considered late, and marked tardy. 1st and 2nd period students will be required to report to the front office prior to entering class as those students will serve lunch detention for being late to school, and will only be admitted to class with an appropriately signed admittance slip from the front office. Professional Practices grade will be reduced by 20% for the day as this habit needs to be broken while in high school, prior to entering the workforce, or any post-secondary endeavors. School tardy policy will be strictly enforced.

CARE OF EQUIPMENT

Take care of all equipment and books as if they were your own. Do not mark on any equipment or books, tables, desks in the classroom. Students must notify the teacher if equipment, books or tables/desks/chairs have been damaged.

NETWORK RESPONSIBILITY CONTRACT

The districts network responsibility contract will be strictly enforced. Students are provided the use of technology at school as a privilege. It is not a right to use the computers. If a student violates the contract, appropriate consequences will be enforced based on the policy. Please keep in mind that all students and parents are required to sign the contract prior their student being allowed to use the computers. Therefore, if a student or parent has questions, please refer back to the Student or Parent/Guardian Network Responsibility contract signed at the beginning of the school year.

A NO GAMING/WEB SURFING POLICY is strictly enforced in this class. Computer games, and/or random personal web surfing/streaming are not allowed in this classroom. A wise use of time is encouraged, and expected. Offenses could result in a student’s removal of computer usage, professional practices grade, and/or office referral. Using PGHS computer equipment is a privilege, not a right.

FOOD AND DRINK POLICY

No food or drinks are allowed in the computer lab before, during or after class. Bottled water is acceptable, but must be placed on the floor. Students may not enter class with food or drinks, this will affect their professional practices grade by 10% deduction for the day. We do not want to risk harming our technology equipment or creating a bug/pest issue.

ACADEMIC HONESTY

All assignments must represent the student’s own work. Students my discuss assignments with other students to gain a better understanding of the problem; however, copying projects or assignments whole or in part from ANY source is considered plagiarism and will result in a grade of zero for that assignment. Cheating includes the student receiving as well as supplying information during assignment/tests/quizzes without permission. Academic dishonesty will not only result in a zero for the assignment, but will also reduce a student’s Professional Practices grade to a 0 for the day.

CELL PHONE POLICY

Cell phones are only to be used at teacher’s discretion. All phones are to be placed on “Do not disturb” or turned off, and placed on the shelf above, or in front of each student’s workspace during a test or quiz, NO EXCEPTIONS. Students may never talk on their cell phones during class time, this offense is considered disrespectful, disruptive, and will cause the student to lose 50% of their Professional Practices grade for the day as well as disciplinary action. If a student is found to be, texting, or wasting time on their cell phone during class time, that student’s phone will be taken up only to be returned at the end of class, and again will lose 50% of their Professional Practices points for the day.
