Learning Objective

To explore and develop qualities that can contribute to building resilience.

Diamond 9 Scenarios

You audition for the lead role in the school play. You feel really confident about your chances as you played a lead role last year and you’re in a drama club out of school, plus, you’ve been preparing for the audition. However, you are given quite a minor role with only a few lines and a few walk-ons. / It’s the school Sports Day and your team is leading the way in the relay race. You are the runner for the last leg of the race but your baton handover is messy and you drop it. The delay causes you to come fourth so you don’t even get the bronze.
One of your classmates is having a birthday celebration at Alton Towers and is only choosing a few friends to go along for this special treat. You have been friends since first starting school in Reception and have always invited him/her to your parties. However, you don’t receive an invite. / Your school is holding a non-school-uniform day to raise funds for charity. You arrive at school and everyone has gone all-out with their outfits but you have totally forgotten and are wearing your usual uniform.
You are on a residential visit at an outside activity centre. Your class has been divided into teams and has been given a treasure/scavenger hunt challenge looking for things like something yellow, something shiny, something hard etc. The winning team will be the ones with the most creative collection. / A friend is having a really rough time of things at home and is feeling pretty tearful in school. He/she isn’t so keen to join in at break times and is finding it hard to concentrate in class. Some of the other kids in the class seem a bit irritated by his/her low mood as it has been going on for a couple of weeks.
