Learning Outcomes: By the end of this workshop students will
1. Understand the basics of Climate Change
2. Develop their transferable skills: teamwork, communication, attention to detail
3. Present their group project back to their parents
Summary of Activity:
Students will be introduced to the concept of climate change and what they can do to prevent it.
The students will then work in teams to design and build their ‘Dream House’. They will be graded on sustainability, presentation skills.

Ice Breaker / Children will play a networking game – ticking off a range of housing/environment related statements as they meet each other. E.g. I have a tree in my garden. / 11:00

Introduction / Children will listen to information about Climate Change in the form of a fairytale in which they decide the ending. / (5)
Master-class / The expert will explain the variety of things that you can change in a house to make it more sustainable. / 11:15 (5)
Main Activity / Outline task: To create a dream house using a budget that is sustainable.
Students will visualize their own house and walk through it with their eyes closed. Thinking about where they could put different sustainable items.
They must then plan in their teams. Our expert will manage the resources and give guidance on their first plans.
Students begin construction using a card net to form the walls and roof and including the resources they have ‘bought’.
Students will then create a poster which explains their decisions in bright bold colours!
Teams must prepare 1 minute presentation. All team members must contribute.
Teams to present back to parents. / 11:20
