Grant Instructions

Eligible Applicants: Applicantsmust be NON-PROFIT. AnIRS tax exemption – 501(c)(3) – is not necessary. But the project must be non-profit and benefit the community.

Amount of Individual Awards: The maximum grant available from FIUF is $1,500.00 for a one year period. FIUF will fund equipment and supplies. FIUF will NOT fund food, travel, scholarships, consultants, or personnel expenses (wages, salaries, etc.).

Eligible Projects: Only projects that benefit the island of Moloka‘i are eligible for Friendly Isle United Fund grants. Projects of all kinds will be considered for funding as long as they meet this requirement. Special consideration will be given to projects that:

!Address an important Moloka’i community need

!Provide new programs or services

!Invest in Moloka’i’s future by helping to build our youth

!Create services or systems that will provide ongoing future benefits

!Increase the participants’ capacity to give back to the community

!Solve a problem so we don’t have to deal with it in the future

Management Requirements (Program and Fiscal): Applicants must show that they will be able to successfully complete the proposed project, and that they can manage FIUF funds responsibly. Following are some of the management factors that will be considered in deciding whether to award FIUF grants:

!Previous track record of project leaders

!Success of previous projects, if any

!Reasonableness of the funding amount requested

!Whether applicant has a trustworthy financial management system

!Whether the project is sustainable (if it’s not a one-time activity)

!Whether the applicant has raised funds from other sourcesIs the applicant willing to publicize FIUF through the proposed project, please include details of how (example may be from previous events that were funded by FIUF)?

Important Note: All FIUF grantees are required to submit a final report on their projects by July 20, 2016. Photos of activities must be included in the report.
