Title:Advice and Welfare Volunteer

Responsible to:FInDA Advice and Welfare Manager

Main purpose of role:To provide support to Advice Workers, managing a small caseload of debt cases.

Time commitment:8 - 16 hours per week.

Hours:9.00am – 5.00pm with some flexibility

About Freshwinds

Since 1992 Freshwinds has been working to improve the health and well-being of adults and children living with long term conditions and those from socially excluded backgrounds in and around the Birmingham area, free of charge.

Our mission is to provide a person centred, fully integrated model of care and support to individuals with life threatening and life limiting illnesses and those experiencing social exclusion. We do this by way of a caring, safe and secure environment, exploring their circumstances and emotions to find a true resolution to their situation.

Our holistic approach to care and support has led to the development of a number of projects within Freshwinds including, Supporting People Programme, Integrated Medicine, FInDA Advice and Welfare and FInDA Employment and Training.

We are looking for friendly, approachable and professional individuals to assist our FInDA Advice and Welfare team, and manage a small number of debt related cases.

Person Requirements:

  • Abilityto communicate effectively and clearly to people from all backgrounds
  • Good customer relation skills
  • The ability to present themselves in a professional manner
  • A friendly, happy person
  • A personinterested in Debt Advice
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Smart appearance

Activities:

•Working in conjunction with the Advice Workers, to provide a comprehensive Debt advice service to clients
•To provide support at in-house and outreach sessions for various cases
•To take on and manage a small caseload of multiple debt cases under the supervision of the advice team
•To provide advice on money management and budgeting to clients
•To keep clear client records in line with AQS Quality Mark requirements
•Maintain strict confidentiality in line with Advice Service Policies
•To review own cases regularly with advice workers
