Self-introduction of蔡式媚

Freshman English, 2005-2006 of Tunghai University

My name is Shr-mei Tsai. I was born in a small village by the sea in Kaoshuing. My parents own several fishponds. There are six children in my family, and I am the thirdone. I have one older sister, one older brother, and three younger sisters. One of them is a nurse, one is working in the bank, and another is working in Taiwan Water Corporation. We have close relationships and we still share our lives with each other even we don’t live together now.

When I was a little girl, I saw the orange light of sunset reflected in the fishponds when the birds flew by, and my father walked in the nearby, which was such a beautiful picture that it touched my soul deeply. The sky became dark blue when night was coming. I was talking with my classmates along the beach, watching the stars, and listening to the sound of waves whipping the seashore. All the memories are still in my dreams as well as in my painting. When in junior high, I started to learn Chinese painting. So far, I have done it for several decades. As a teacher of Chinese painting, I have had several individual exhibitions in the culture departments of Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung, and three picture offprints of my works were published and because of this chance, I made some great friends who love art asI do.

I moved to Taichungafter I got married. My husband was a military official in college, and we have two sons who are very independent and talented. Oneis taking a doctoral program at NationalTaiwanUniversity and the other is a senior majoring in art atNationalTaiwanUniversity. They both are good children who bring my happiness.

Now, I am a freshman majoring in fine art at TunghaiUniversity, learning from different courses which can broaden my visions. Hopefully, I could upgrade my painting skills and have more ideas with my teachers’ guide.

My dream is traveling and painting around the world as well ascollecting the customs and cultures. Learning English well is the only way to carry out my dream, so now I’m trying my best to learn English.
