Library access and Registration

Question: Who can access the e-resources?

Answer: Any student who is registered with The Da Vinci Institute

Question: What resources are available in the Library?

Answer:The Da Vinci Institute provides direct access to a range of online databases covering a variety of different fields such as; accounting, business, finance, law, practice management and taxation from VUT Library (Vaal University of Technikon)

We also have a separate collection of e-resourcesthat are accessible online.

Question: Are all e-resources available for free?

Answer: Yes.

Question: How do I register in order to access the VUT Library e-resources?

To access VUT Library resources, you need to apply for membership through The Da Vinci Institute. The application form is available on this link: After you have filled it in (using a computer – no hand-writing) print, sign and scan it. Then send a scanned copy to Sandy Malapile (). He will then forward it to the VUT Library. The application processes takes between 2-3 working days. He will notify you once the application is approved and provide the document that outlines the steps to accessing the Library.

Question: What is my Username and my student number?

Answer: The user name is your surname (no capital letters). The student number is a four-digit number provided for by The Da Vinci Institute when you register. If you do not know your student number, please contact your Key Account Manager and they will assist you.

Question: Are there other resources that are available?

Answer: Yes. You may visit this link to access the resources and note that they are also freely available. (

Question: When are the e-resources available?

Answer: The e-Resources are always available, 24 hours a day, 7 days of the week throughout the year.

Technical Questions

Question:Does the VUT Library site work with all browsers?

Answer: Yes, all current standard web browsersare supported. These include Internet Explorer for Windows, Firefox Mac and Windows, Safari Mac and Windows, Opera Mac and Windows, and Google Chrome Mac and Windows.

Question: Do you envisage any period of ‘downtime' in the service?

Answer: Like any electronic systems, there are times when the VUT server may be down. If the downtime is long, VUT Library will usually send a message in time. As The Da Vinci Institute, we do inform our students about any technical challenges.

Question: Is the VUT Libraryaccessible through mobile devices?

Answer: The siteis accessible on mobile devices but is not specifically optimized for those platforms.
