Welcome to Frelinghuysen Township School!

Dear Frelinghuysen Kindergarten families,

We are excited to have you join our school community in our outstanding Kindergarten program! Please read through this letter for more information regarding our great program and tentative dates for Kindergarten events. To register for school, you will need to bring in the completed registration packet, original documentation (which we will make copies of) and your child’s health information. If you are unable to use the packet posted here, we will have copies available during registration.

Frelinghuysen Township School is a Kindergarten through Grade 6 public school district. The students of FTS are supported by a dedicated teaching staff, committed Board of Education, caring community and active Parent-Teacher Organization.

Guided by the mission statement to provide all students with a superior individualized education, each student is offered a well-rounded curriculum including world language, physical education, music, art, technology and a comprehensive STEAM program. This is balanced by language arts, math, science and social studies programs such as Go Math and FOSS Science, which guide students to achieve the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.

Technology integration continues to be a focus for the district, as we plan to be learning in a completely 1:1 digital environment for the 2018-2019 school year. Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade learn skills through the use of IPads while our 2nd-6th graders each have a chromebook. Digital platforms such as Sumdog, Raz-kids, Kahoot and Arcademics are used to enhance the learning in the classroom.

Further enhancing the instructional program, students are provided with school-wide enrichment opportunities such as the Week of Respect, Veteran’s Day ceremony, Thanksgiving feast, Winter Week, the 100th day of school celebration, Read Across America and Field Day.

Kindergarten is a special year for students and we seek to provide the very best foundational skills for children as they begin their school years. Our program is supported by a comprehensive, multi-sensory language arts program, a hands-on approach in math and engaging opportunities for students to develop socially and emotionally while learning through play.

Registration is the only mandatory event. The other events are designed to provide your child with various opportunities to feel confident and comfortable entering Kindergarten! If you have an unavoidable conflict or any other questions, please contact Ms. Allen ().

Please mark your calendars with the following dates for Kindergarten.

Kindergarten Registration

January 30-31

8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

*Please bring in a completed registration packet with the necessary original documentation. Registration packets will be available on these days, if you are unable to use the digital copy.

Kindergarten Screening

Week of May 21

*Families will be contacted individually via email to choose a date and time that is convenient

*At FTS, we value each child and seek to provide individual instruction. This screening is a tool that will provide an overview of where your child is and will assist in helping the Kindergarten teacher set your child up for success in their coming school year. It is in no way evaluative and will only result in being able to provide your child with a superior education in Kindergarten.

Kindergarten Round-up

August 27, 2018

9:00 AM to 10:30 AM

*This will be an event designed to give your child a “first look” at theirKindergartenclassroom right before school begins! Parents will get an opportunity to meet with school staff to hear more about our great programs while the children get to spend some time in their classroom and go on a bus ride so they feel confident and comfortable for the first day of school!

Our community of learners at FTS, in partnership with our parents, continually seeks opportunities to provide a superior individualized education that focuses on the best instructional practices and the social and emotional development of every child. We look forward to welcoming you and your child to our school!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Bonaparte
