Presenters:

Nancy Amidei is the Director of the Civic Engagement Project at the University of

Washington. She’s a writer, teacher and advocate who has been involved in social policy

from both inside and outside of government. Nancy is known for her practical tips on how

to influence public policy. Her enthusiastic and fun approach will provide you with the

knowledge you need. She will inspire you to get involved and make a difference. Nancy

has been a newspaper columnist, a radio commentator for National Public Radio and has

appeared on numerous national television programs. She has a MSW from the University

of Michigan and a BS in Humanities from Loyola University, Chicago.

Paul L. Ahern, Jr. is Managing Member of the law firm of Sandler Ahern & McConaughy

in Seattle. He will discuss what non-profit organizations can and can’t do when working on

legislative issues. He graduated from Dartmouth College with Highest Distinction in 1971

and earned his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 1975. Paul is the

President of the Board of Directors for Hate Free Zone Washington. He is also a Member of

the Board of Directors for the Church Council of Greater Seattle.
