Dear Parents/Guardians:

Spring is fast arriving, and it’s time to begin preparing for the 8th grade dance. Here are some important details pertaining to the dance:

Location: Sutton Hall

Date: May 15, 2015

Time: 7:00-10:00 p.m.

Theme: “A Night to Remember”

Cost: Ticket Prices $25.00 per student

Sale Dates: April 29 – May 8, 2015

Students anxiously look forward to having fun, food, and entertainment at the dance, but with every dance come rules and guidelines to follow. In an attempt to be fair and consistent with our students, the following guidelines have been developed:

Dress Requirements

~ Minimum for boys: Boys are to wear semi-formal attire to the dance. Dress shirt with or without tie and a jacket is acceptable, dress pants (NO JEANS), regular or dress shoes (NO SNEAKERS), Dressy turtleneck with a jacket is also acceptable. Shoes must be worn at all times.

~ Minimum for girls: Skirt with blouse or dress, dress shoes (NO SNEAKERS). Shoes must be worn at all times.

Modesty Guidelines

Note: These requirements/guidelines will be enforced and the student will be sent home if dress code is not followed.

~ No revealing clothing may be worn including clothing where excessive cleavage is displayed.

~ Two piece dresses that are a skirt and top (as long as the skirt falls close to your natural waist line and the top is not low cut.

Inappropriate attire

~ Under garments that are visible.

~Dresses with a slit cut in the back or side of the dress (with arms held straight down your side, slit should be lower than fingertips).

~Strapless dresses (Only with a wrap or shawl)

~See-through apparel, fish-net, or any mesh clothing should not be worn.

~Clothing cut down to the navel or below the top of the breast line.

~Dresses which are too tight or too form-fitting.

~Backless apparel that exposes the posterior (very bottom of lower back).

~Two piece outfits with stomach exposed.

~No shorts, sagging pants, or sleeveless shirts will be allowed.

~Shirts must be worn at all times and no hats.

Other Essential Information

~Only YMS 8th Grade students are eligible to attend the dance.

~The 8th grade teachers and administrative staff will serve as chaperones.

~Parents may take pictures from 7:00-7:30 p.m. After 7:30 Parents are asked to leave and return at 10:00 p.m. to pick up students.

In order for your child to purchase a ticket to the dance, all lunch, textbooks and library charges must be cleared and the consent form below must be signed and returned before a ticket is issued. Tickets will go on sale April 29 – May 8, 2015, during homeroom. Tickets will NOT be sold after these dates or at the dance. Due to catering service numbers, there will be NO EXCEPTIONS on the payment deadline. Any students that receive OSS or 3 or more days in ISS between Wednesday, March 4, 2015, and the day of the 8th grade festivities will not be allowed to participate in the 8th grade dance. There will be no refunds issued for money paid.
