STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENT:

2013 CHS Junior/Senior Prom Details:

-This year, prom will be held on Saturday, April 13 at The Castle in Raymond from 8:30pm to 12:00am.

-The theme this year is "Masquerade Ball." Students are encouraged to include masks in their attire; however, please be prepared to remove your mask if it is so asked by a chaperone/teacher/administrator. NO FULL COVERAGE MASKS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

-No one will be admitted after 10:00 pm.

-Tickets will be sold during lunch for $40/couple or $20/person the week of April 1-5.

-We will not accept any checks. CASH ONLY.

-When purchasing your tickets, be sure to write down what size t-shirt you and your date will need.

-No tickets will be sold after Friday, April 5.

-Tickets are nontransferable.

-Anyone bringing a non-CHS student must pick up the form outside Ms. Nance's room (E105) or Ms. Tompkins's room (W211) and return completed by 3:40 on Thursday, April 4.

-Everyone attending prom must view the PowerPointregarding the dress code.

-If you are bringing a non-CHS student, then you are responsible for that person following the dress code.

-If you have any questions about your dress, see Ms. Tompkins in room W211.

Course verification sheets for the 2013-2014 school year will be distributed to students through the 10th and 11th grade homerooms on Monday. The verification sheets must be signed by a parent and must return by Friday, April 5th. This will be the only opportunity to change your classes for the next school year. There will be no exceptions to this rule because the Master Schedule is built around student's course request.

  1. Thursday, April 4th at 7:00 pm, we will have the Clinton HS Winter guard and Indoor Percussion Community Show. This will be held at the high school gym.Cost will be $5 per person and $3 with student ID.
  2. Spanish Singers will meet in Mr. Freeny's room during HR today.

  5. CPSD is collecting pre-orders for a Clinton Arrows specialty car tag. The beautiful tag design was created by Computer Graphics Technology teacher Tempress Holly, and features our distinctive red Arrow logo. Tags are $31, and your current tag DOES NOT have to be expired to pre-order one of the Clinton Arrows tags. Tag design, order forms and FAQs are posted on .
  6. Do you have books at home that you have outgrown and no longer want? Consider donating to the "Clinton Reads" children's book drive. We are trying to collect 6,000 new or gently used children's books this spring. Donated books will be sorted and given to Clinton students in grades K-5 at the end of the school year, in hopes that kids will read more during the slow summer months. Books may be dropped off at CHS and many other locations around town. Read more here:
  7. Senior Announcements and Keepsakes will be delivered on April 18th from 11:30-2:00. Any student not paid in full must pay on this date. If you will not be present, please make arrangements for someone to pay and/or pick up your order. You received a personal letter with the current balance.

  11. JSU is conducting a free one day volleyball camp at the TB Ellis Gym on JSU campus on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The camp will focus on teaching volleyball skills, sharing drills, team offense and defense, and much more. The camp is FREE to everyone (Jr. High and High School students)and they just need to bring a lunch and provide their own transportation.

  17. Volleyball Tryouts: Tryouts for the 2013-2014 Lady Arrow Volleyball Team will be Monday and Tuesday, April 22-23 at Clinton High School Gym from 4:30-7:30.   18. Do you ever miss skating at Funtime on Friday nights? Do you have a favorite superhero? Do you like to help others? Then the Superhero Skate-a-thon for Batson Hospital is perfect for you! The superhero-themed skate-a-thon will be Monday, April 8 from 6:00-10:00pm.In order to participate, you must raise at least $50 through donations. Great Lakes Educational Loan Services, Inc. is offering $2,500 scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students enrolling in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) programs. GUIDANCE OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Any student that needs a letter of recommendation from their counselor must complete a Counselor Recommendation Packet prior to requesting a recommendation letter. The packet must be fully completed in order for a recommendation letter to be written. Students must allow 5 working days for completion. SCHOLARSHIPS

The spring semester is here and it is time for graduating seniors to apply for student financial aid.

The Junior Civic League of Clinton is offering a scholarship to a 2013 graduate. Applications are in the Counselor’s office. The deadline is April 19th.

The Labonte’ Woman’s Club of Clinton will award a $500.00 scholarship to a 2013 Clinton High School female graduate. The winner will be selected on her academic record, honors, participation in organizations, community service, financial need and person essay. Applications are in the Counselor’s office and the deadline is April 12th.

The Ebony Pearls Foundation, Incorporated awards achievement-based scholarships to high school seniors. Must be from an accredited high school in Hinds, Madison or Rankin counties, an African-American, a GPA of 3.0, submit application packet, participate in an interview and attend the awards reception. Applications are available in the Counselor’s office and the deadline is April 1st.

The Mississippi Municipal League (MML) is proud to announce their annual scholarship program. A $2000 scholarship is open to seniors who plan to attend an accredited college in Mississippi. A second $2000 scholarship is restricted to the children or grandchildren of Mississippi Municipal officials and city employees. A third $2000 scholarship is restricted to children or grandchildren of employees or elected officials of Mississippi municipalities that are members of the MMSC Liability Plan or the Workers Compensation Group. Applications are in the Counselor’s office and an essay is required. Deadline is Friday, May 17th.

The Shelter Insurance Foundation is offering a scholarship to a graduating senior. The selection committee will consider the applicant’s scholastic achievement, participation and leadership in school and community activities, citizenship and moral character and educational goals. The Art Council of Clinton will be awarding one scholarship in the amount of $1000 to a senior art student displaying advanced artistic talent. The scholarship is open to all artistic genres including but not limited to: visual arts, dance, musical performance, literary, and dramatic performance. COLLEGE PREVIEW DAYS

The Lott Leadership Institute at the University of Mississippi is please to announce that the annual Lott Leadership Institute for High School Students is now taking nominations for the two 2013 sessions. Participants will travel to Washington, DC to participate in discussions with state and national leaders.
