June 2, 2017

Pledge of Allegiance

Call to order: PTA President, Laura Metzler called the meeting to order at 9:30am and welcomed all in attendance.

Recording Secretary Report: Christina circulated minutes from the last meeting. The minutes were approved by Maria Ruggierio and seconded by Carol Cortorillo

Dr. Furnari -

The sustainable goals met for all 4 schools has been approved

student achievement, resources, fiscal responsibility and stewardship

Check the curriculum newsletter for updates

The district will be scheduling coffee chats and forums throughout the year

Parent Academies will focus on student wellbeing, social media and digital citizenship

Clarification of Algebra portion of the PARCC

Treasurers Report: Laura Strickland

Presented the treasurers report. Approved Carol Cortorillo and seconded by Rachelle Login.

Paypal was a huge success with pizza and membership and we are looking to use it for other programs.

Thank you from Mrs. Prunk for all the PTA has done so far, the teacher luncheon as well as the four scholarship recipients.

the DC trip has a registration deadline of October 1

The Open Houses will be in October. They are at Hills on the 5th and Ramapo on the 12th. The UP programs will be on the 19th

Mr. Keiser - Principal Report

Welcome to all the families

Thank you to the PTA for planters, balloons at the beginning of the year

We have a strong 8th grade group of leaders

OLWEUS is being changed to SPEAK UP

Small Class sizes this year and lots of extracurricular activites

The book fair was a success

Frost Valley is next week

Week of Respect is Oct 2. All activities are posted on the website

Red Ribbon week will include a speaker on Oct 24th for 7th and 8th graders regarding heroin use. The police will speak to the 6th grade classes.

There will be a bullying and self respect event on the 27th for all students and they will address the parents on the 29th.

Middle School lessons are moving forward with lots of group projects, problem solving and ESCAPE rooms. Mr. Colon is piloting a gaming type atmosphere in his classroom this year.

PTA BUSINESS

Laura gave a thank you to the following committees, Hospitality, Book Fair, Eblast, Lunch Heads, Rebecca Rund for the technology input and PLC for their great collection for hurricane relief.

We are going to look into increasing our FAMS wear

FLEF UPDATE

The golf outing in October has been cancelled. Ladies night is November 2nd.

reminded everyone that winter sports physicals are due.
