ILLINOIS HEARTLAND EMMAUS COMMUNITY

Purpose:

The purpose of the Fourth Day Talk is threefold:

  1. To give the person an opportunity to share what God is doing in his/her continued journey of faith.
  2. To give the person an opportunity to share with others who he/she is and what faith means to him/her.
  3. To “practice” the task of preparing a talk from an outline and the presentation of this talk in front of others.

Time:

Five (5) Minutes

General Outline:

  1. Begin with the day following your Walk to Emmaus.
  2. It is not necessary to begin with your first encounter with God.
  3. Focus on how your life is different since your Walk.
  • How do you relate to your family now that is different?
  • Do you look at your work in the same manner?
  • How has your church participation changed?
  • What is your relationship with Christ like now?
  • How has your discipleship changed?
  1. What effect has participation in Emmaus activities had?
  • Have you become involved in a group reunion?”
  • Have you been on a weekend team?
  • Have you done any agape for friends or Emmaus Weekends?
  • Do you attend gatherings regularly and what support have they given you for your journey of faith?
  1. Where are your Fourth Days leading you?
  • Have your Fourth Days led you to a deeper commitment to the Lord?
  • Has the support of your group reunion given you direction for your journey?
  • Has this experience helped you re-think your commitment to your church and increased your willingness to serve there?
  • Are you moving to a deeper commitment in your personal devotional life?
  • Are you becoming a leader in your church, family, neighborhood, and at your place of work by witnessing your faith in Jesus Christ?

Style:

This presentation should be given in a confessional, witness style. It is not meant to be a lecture or lesson, but a simple sharing of a small part of the person’s life. Just a five-minute segment, since your Walk. It may be helpful to envision a group of friends with whom you want to share what has been going on in your life since this new encounter with God’s love.
