Étoile Academy Charter School, a new independent 5th-8th grade charter school in Houston, is seeking an ambitious, smart, and high-capacity individual to join our team as a Founding Leader. Étoile Academy is founded on the belief that all students can learn and achieve at high levels when held to the highest expectations— regardless of their race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, zip code, or home language. We will ensure that every student in grades 5 through 8 has the academic and character foundation necessary to succeed in high school, graduate from college, and pursue ambitious life goals. Étoile Academy will open in August 2018 with students in grade 5, and will grow one grade level annually until fully enrolled with grades 5 through 8. Étoile Academy is proud to be serving the students and families in the Sharpstown and Gulfton communities of Houston.

Founding Operations Manager

The Founding Operations Manager will be responsible for working with the leadership team to develop, create, and implement procedures and routines including student arrival, breakfast, lunch, and dismissal. The Founding Operations Manager will also be responsible for several critical compliance, reporting and business operations including data entry and reporting. The Founding Operations Manager will ensure that the mission of the school is executed in all school spaces and procedures.

The Founding Operations Manager will have the following key responsibilities.

·  Working with the School Director to create procedures and routines that support the mission of the school and ensure student safety.

·  Overseeing PEIMS data entry and working with the School Director and the Back-Office Provider to ensure accuracy.

·  Ensuring school follows TEA policies and meets deadlines in a timely manner.

·  Ensuring strict confidentiality of personal student information and data.

·  Working with the School Director to oversee operations staff (Office Manager and Data/PEIMS Assistant in Y2), to include goal setting, weekly coaching, and regular feedback.

·  Creating and managing systems of documentation to ensure the school is in full compliance with all regulations.

·  Leading practice sessions on all procedures and routines with the entire staff.

·  Supporting the planning and execution of school events including Home Visits.

·  Creating and executing a system for inventory of technology and for technology maintenance and troubleshooting.

·  Setting, communicating, and supporting staff on a high standard of expectations for classroom and building appearance.

·  Managing the school’s calendar and making regular updates to the school calendar.

·  Overseeing maintenance and materials requests.

·  Overseeing and working with all vendors and service providers (food services and janitorial services).

·  Creating purchase orders, tracking shipments, and following-up on administrative needs with vendors, including ordering, receipt and maintenance of supplies.

·  Ensuring student safety through the creation and practice of emergency plans.

Qualifications

·  Bachelor’s degree or higher required

·  Experience with business operations and finance including knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles

·  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required

·  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff

·  Knowledge of office equipment and services including computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, phones, and software

·  Open to feedback, desire to continue development as a professional and willingness to take responsibility for student outcomes and achievement

·  Alignment with school’s mission and core values

·  Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)
