working with FOTA past 6 years as lobbyist
-Took over legislative chairperson
-Medicaid and Prepaid Therapy Program
-Utilizing the list serve /groups to communicate the information amongst practitioners
-Many disciplines involved
Medicaid reform for Peds in Broward and Duval
-Not extended to other countries
-Prepaid therapy example of how legislature can change a profession
-To cut back Medicaid bids on 2 companies to become intermediaries for Medicaid
-One in North FL and one in south FL
-Companies state will sign up all patients, will notpay lower fees and all will be paid
-Encourage patients and therapists to write to legislators
-Bill on Orthotics- If OT wants to continue to be consulted on orthotics House Bill #607 proposes to remove the need to consult with other practitioners
-House Bill #471 Establish lifting procedures in hospitals
-House Bill #1278 removes 21 day time frame for direct access for PT
