Meeting Minutes

December 3, 2015

  1. Call to order

The meeting was called to order the meeting at 6:37pm on December 3, 2015 in the Paul Fly library.

  1. Approval of minutes from last meeting

Meeting minutes were approved from November.

  1. Special Guest: Mrs. Wechsler

Mrs. Wechsler attended the meeting and reviewed the responsibilities of the Lead teach.

·  Runs school safety program

o  Monthly leadership meetings

o  Coordinate our safety patrol

·  Support students – bus lessons

·  Positive challenges to address behavior needs

·  Runs SWPBS program

o  Reviewed Rules matrix (Take care of self, Take care of Other, Take care of Things)

o  Fly 200 Club – acknowledgement program to support SWPBS

·  Technology

o  Working with teachers to create projects

o  Creating videos to showcase the amazing things that happen at Paul Fly

o  Keeping families informed by posting updates on our website and Facebook.

·  Morning Message

o  Welcome messages

o  Breakfast & Lunch menus

o  Birthdays

o  First in Math teams and players of the week

  1. Principal Report

·  Reviewed lockdown process. Under 1 minute and 32 seconds to ensure all students and teachers were secure.

o  First responders are sent to building; notification is sent to the parents with the safe zone notification. Parent will be able to pick them up at that time.

·  All iPads are in and we even received carts (at no cost).

·  Upcoming events

o  Swimming for 4th grade begins next week

o  Holiday shoppe starts next week.

o  Winter concert on 12/10 ***

o  PCC meeting at 7pm (hosted by PVF)

o  Winter celebrations – 12/18

·  Writing in Mathematics

o  Journals are being kept by all students (in all grades) to assist with understanding the concepts used in their math lessons.

o  Application of strategies

o  Share with parents

o  Introduce new concepts

o  Check out the video of the teachers answering questions regarding the math journal. It will be posted on the website later this week.

  1. Teacher’s Report

·  Thank you for the dinner at the conference times.

·  Thank you for the book fair support.

·  Mrs. Ross provided a link for a possible assembly next year…jump jope

·  Mrs. Lagreca's class made ornaments for the parents as a thank you.

  1. President’s Report

·  Podparty volunteers numbers are down.

·  If you are able to volunteer, please send a note

  1. 1st Vice president report

·  RIF Book logs are a little low. If you have not sent in your logs, please do so.

·  January 7th assembly is confirmed. It will be a science theme.

  1. 2nd Vice president Report

Fundraising goals for December:

• Spiritwear – $1037 worth of spiritwear

• Dine outs earned $1442.39 so far this year.

• Yankee candle – exceeded the goal of $15,000.

• Shoparoo – Continue shopping

• Amazon associates – posted to facebook; you can get the link on the website.

• Movie night – 1st movie night profit was $408.61

Upcoming fundraisers:

·  Five Below – Running 11/30 – 12/11

·  Chipotle – 12/6

·  Learning Express – 12/7 – 12/9

·  Burger King – 1/21

Concert – Flowers will be purchased from produce junction. They will have water and chocolates as well.

Upcoming activities: Snow ball Dance – 1/22

• DJ – we will reach out to the DJ (either Dell or Rotation records)

• Basket – Looking for donations for the baskets for the dance. Look for an email for donations in January.

·  Voted to charge $1.00 per person for the dance

Suggestions for next year on fundraising:

·  Hosting a wrap party.

·  Gym time for kids on Friday night

  1. Treasurer’s Report

·  Paid invoices that were received.

·  Deposited fundraiser checks

  1. Committee Reports

·  Holiday shoppe - setting up on Friday 12/4 at 2pm; and break down on 12/11 at 12pm.

·  Box tops - Mrs. Homka's class won the first submission. Submitted 5075 box tops.

·  School board - Government Impasse has caused the school to put all spending on hold. All non-essential spending is frozen. Only essential spending will be approved. Paul Fly videos were showcased at the board meeting.

·  Winter Pod parties - Homeroom assignments are out. The volunteer numbers are low. If you are able to volunteer, please reach out to podpartvolunteer.verizon.net

·  Staff appreciation - on 24th dinner; Tina will send out emails.

·  Hospitality and PSSA snacks - Tina fill the roll

·  PCC - Paul Fly will be hosting in December 16 at 7pm in the library. They will also be having a meeting on 1/20 at 7pm. It will be a cookie exchange. It will be held at Eisenhower.

·  Next PFC meeting –1/7

·  PCC meeting to be held at Paul Fly on 12/16 at 7pm.

·  Yearbook – We will vote on the cost of the yearbooks in the February PFC meeting.
