- Oz Crafters are boutique woodworkers based in Ballarat, founded in 1981
- The business was started by Frank Jones, who has since been making an assortment of wood crafts including high-end custom furniture, pre-made furniture, timber homewares and children’s toys
- Oz Crafters currently sell out of the shop front in Ballarat and through 7 retail partners also in Victorian Metropolitan hubs
- The business is looking to expand its market and sales by creating greater brand awareness online and selling directly to both customers and retailers
Business Requirements
The following are the business requirements for the project. This is what the business wants from the website
- Boost brand awareness and generate more customers = more sales
- E-Commerce capability – customers and retailers to be able to buy directly from an online store
- Strong brand image – the site needs to help define and clearly represent the Oz Crafters brand personality
- High visibility – we want to be found on search engines and social media. This is critical to grow our market and compete against large retailers
Target Market
The two broad customer segments for the Oz Crafters website will be (please see personas attached):
- High-value, family minded professionals and parents (Claire Smith persona)
- Niche furniture and homeware store owners & managers (Steve Rossetti persona)
The common values that define our customers are:
- Appreciation for quality and individuality over price
- Locally sourced and made products are important to them
- They are strong users of technology, but not young enough to be tech natives – ease of use is highly important
- Risk averse – they are willing to pay but need to be reassured of quality
- Customer service and human relationships are highly important to them
Design Requirements

- A look and feel consistent with the Oz Crafters style guide and logo
- Modern design that is competitive with best-practice e-commerce websites
- A design that is easy to use on both desktop and mobile devices

Functional Requirements
The site will be built on Business Catalyst.
The following are the functional requirements for the project. This is what the functions should be on the website
- Responsive (Must work on Mobile, Tablets and Desktops)
- Search function for the website
- Easy to update site content, add products, remove products, edit products, write blogs
- Ability to have a download area within products for more information
- Analytics measurement on the website (e.g. Google Analytics)
- Should be able to add video to the website
- Blog area on the website for latest news
