SalesStationPro Quick Start

Installation Instructions for SalesStationPro

Computer - Minimum Requirements:

  • Pent II 350 or better (not Pent IV)
  • Operating System: Windows98 SE, Windows NT (Service Pack 5), Windows 2000, or Windows XP
  • CD Rom Drive
  • 3 Gig Hard Drive
  • 128 Meg Ram
  • Headset (Included)
  • Fax/Modem (Optional)
  • Internet Connection (Optional: Cable/DSL recommended)

Turnkey System:

If you purchased a turnkey system (computer – the works!!) then you do not need to install the SalesStationPro software or voice boards. To begin using your system, see page 28.

SalesStationProKit:

If you are a first time user and purchased a kit:

Software only- skip to page 22 and start with either ACT! Installation Instructions (if you are not currently using ACT!) or SSP Software Installation Instructions

Software and Dialogic Board- start below with Dialogic Installation Instructions and complete the entire Installation Manual.

NOTE: You need to have one of these operating systems installed on your computer: Windows98 SE, Windows NT (Service Pack 5), Windows 2000, or Windows XP.

Dialogic Software Installation:

  1. Load SSP CD in computer.
  2. Your CD will autorun. If so, skip forward to step #4. If not, in My Computer choose your CD Rom Drive and from the SSP CD click on the Dialogic NT folder for Windows 2000, NT, and XP. For Windows 98 Users, click on the Dialogic98 folder and follow the instructions below. Note: your screen may look a little different depending on how you are viewing your folders (tile, list, icons..).

You will see one of the following screens:

Windows 2000, XP, or NT users:

Windows 98 Users:

  1. Click on setup.exe. Windows 98 Users screens will look a little different. Follow the same prompts to complete this process.

  1. Click on Next and you will see the following screen.
  2. Enter your name and company name and click on Next.

  1. Click on Next and you will see the following screen.
  2. Click on Typical.

  1. For Windows NT, 2000 or XP, after clicking on Typical you will see the following screen. You can leave the default destination directory as is or you can change it by clicking on Browse. You will not see this screen for Windows 98 Users.
  1. Click on Next and you will see the following screen. For Windows 98 Users, the Program Folder will say “Dialogic Development Package”.
  1. Click on Next and you will see the following screen.
  1. Click on Next and you will see the following screen. This screen will show you the progress while the system is loading the files.
  1. When this is finished, the following screen will pop up.
  1. Choose to run all or any of the options on the above screen. If you click on View Release Guide and click on Next, you will see the following screen. Keep in mind that Windows 98 Users screens will look similar but not exact.
  1. Installation is complete, click on a Tab and then choose the subject you want to read about by clicking Open. You may print the material, click on Print. If you don’t want to Open or Print anything, click on Cancel.

You will see the following screen.

  1. Choose restart my computer and click on Finish.

Dialogic Board Installation:

There are several types of Dialogic Boards that we sell: D4PCI, D41ESC, D4EPCI, ProLine2V, D21D, D41D, and Dialog/4. Some of these require special instructions for installation that include setting jumpers and dip switches and attaching splitters. If you bought your card on your own, please follow the instructions that came with your product. If you bought your card from us, please follow the diagram for your type of card. The diagram is attached to your invoice.

  1. After the computer has restarted and finished, turn the computer off.

NOTE: To reduce the risk of electric shock, switch off the power the remove power cords before opening the computer case. Do not re-attach cords or switch on power to the computer while the computer case is removed.

  1. Remove the PC cover.
  2. Select an empty PCI or ISA slot, remove the slot’s retaining screw and remove the access cover plate.
  3. Insert the board’s edge connector into the slot. Apply pressure only to the top edge of the board and gently rock the board forward and backward to seat the edge connector into the slot.
  4. Install the retaining screw.
  5. Replace the PC cover when finished.
  6. Make sure all connections are secure and start your computer.
  7. Certain boards require a hardware configuration (Proline 2V, D21D, D41D, and Dialog/4). You can check your invoice to determine the board you purchased. Your computer might prompt you with “Add New Hardware”. If it does, follow the prompts and choose to install your Dialogic Board listed in the drop-down menu. For Windows 98 Users, when you open the system to run quick test below, you will see a button that says “Add Board”. Follow the prompts, choosing to Select from the drop-down list. Choose Other and then Dialogic and the correct board. You may need to change your IRQ settings in Device Manager and/or disable your Com Port 2 in Bios settings.

Dialogic Quick Test (Run this test to verify correct installation of your board.):

  1. Open the Dialogic Configuration Manager
  2. For Windows 2000, NT, and XP Users, choose Start>Programs>Dialogic System Software>Dialogic Configuration Manager - DCM.
  3. For Windows 98 Users, choose Start>Dialogic Development Package>Configuration Manager.
  1. You will see the following screen for Windows NT, XP or 2000.
  1. Enter the name of the Local computer or the Remote computer. Click on the button for the selection. Click on Connect and you will see the following screen (Click Start for 98 Users).
  1. You will see the progress. When complete, you will see the following screen.
  1. Click on the green light on the Menu bar to start service.
  1. In the upper right corner of your screen, you will see the progress.
  1. On the menu bar, the green light will turn to gray and be inactive. The board will be active. The Stop button will now be active. If you want to turn off the dialogic board, double click on the Stop button. You will see the progress in the upper right corner.
  1. The Red light on the directory tree on the active screen will be green when the Dialogic board is started.
  1. The Dialogic Boards may be started manually each time you start SSP or they can be set to start automatically.
  1. Click on either Automatic or Manual.

For more information on the dialogic board see: Dialogic 5.01\doc\doc_index.html. The Adobe Reader is on the SalesStationPro CD. Install the Adobe Reader on your C: drive and you can browse the file from the CD.

Dialogic Voice Test

Now that we know that your board hardware and software have been installed correctly, it’s time to verify that the sound is working through your boards.

  1. Plug a phone cable directly in to the Dialogic Board in the back of your computer. This is only for testing.
  2. Go to Start>Dialogic System Software>Dialogic Sample Programs>Multi-Threaded Voice for Windows 2000, XP, or NT users. For Windows 98 Users, go to Start>Dialogic Development Package>Voice Sample. You will see the following screen:
  1. Go to File>Open and you will see the following screen.
  1. Select the first channel (make sure that you have a phone line connected). You will see the following screen.
  1. Go to Function and click on Offhook and the following screen will appear.
  1. Go to Function and click on Dial. The following screen will appear.
  1. Type in a number you can call to test (where a live person will answer). Check the Perfect Call Analysis box and then click Ok. You will see the following screen.
  1. If it does not show Call Complete, try again before calling Technical Support. If you see Positive Voice Detection, then go to Function and click on Play Vox. The following screen will appear. Choose sample and click open.

The following screen will appear.

  1. Congratulations! Your voice boards are working properly. Go to Function and click on Onhook. You will see the following screen. Run through this same process with each line that you are using.

10. Exit this program by clicking on the X in the top right corner or by going to File> Exit. Unplug the phone line from the Dialogic Board.

ACT! Installation: Load ACT! Cd and follow manufacturer’s directions.

SalesStationPro Software Installation Instructions:

NOTE: Change your screen settings (Start/Control Panel/Settings) to 1024 x 768. If you do not, when you run SalesStationPro you will not be able to see it on your screen.

  1. Load SSP CD in computer.
  2. Your CD should autorun. If so, choose SalesStationPro installation and skip to #4 below. If not, open My Computer, then your CD-Rom Disk Drive.
  1. Click on SSP.exe

You will see the following screen.

  1. Click on Next and you will see the following screen.
  1. Click on Next and you will see the following screen.
  1. SSP will be the default. When you click on Next, you will see the following screen.
  1. Click Next and you will see the progress of the installation of SalesStationPro on the following screen.
  1. When the installation is finished, click on Next and you will see the following screen.
  1. Click on Finish.

Install the Calling Box, RS232 and Phone cables. Turn off your computer before installing. When all cables and cords are properly installed, start your computer.

  1. Shut down your computer.
  2. Plug in the cables as shown on the diagram. Depending on your computer setup, you will plug the serial cable into the appropriate Com serial port. Typically you will use Com 1.
  3. After you are finished, a green light should light up on the calling box.
  4. Restart your computer.

CONGRATULATIONS! You are now ready to begin using your SalesStationPro Software. You may choose to install CoolEdit to create audio messages. If so, follow the installation instructions starting on page 32. If you have a modem and want to set up this computer as an ssFaxer Network Sever then install SSFaxer- see below.

Using SalesStationPro:

  1. Start Dialogic Boards (unless you have them set to automatic startup or unless you left them on after installation. See page 14 - Dialogic Quick Test for instructions.
  2. Start ACT!, Stop ACT! and then Start ACT! again.

NOTE: Change your screen settings (Start/Control Panel/Settings) to 1024 x 768. If you do not, when you run SalesStationPro you will not be able to see it on your screen.

  1. Start SSP by clicking on the SalesStationPro icon (SSP Phone) on your desktop.
  2. On the bottom of your SalesStationPro screen, click on Setup to set your specific information. For full user’s instructions click on Help at the top of the SalesStationPro screen.

SSFaxer Installation Instructions (Optional)

If you are going to fax using a central shared network, you will need to install SSFaxer.

  1. From the auto-run menu, choose SSFaxer Install and skip to #2 below. If your CD does not autorun, on your SalesStationProCD-Rom click on FaxInstall.

The following screen will pop up.

  1. Click on Next and the following screen will appear.
